A TV programme today was about a white man getting his benefit stopped at seventy years of age. This is just one example of the way we treat out own citizens compared to the immigrants and asylum seekers in this country.
It is an absolute disgrace when money is being taken off the ones who have given their all for this country and given to the people who are a drag on this economy.

Controversial Halevan dude...
...but you are right on SO many levels. I read in the Mail on Sunday about a war veteran (from the first Gulf conflict) who was homeless, yet an Asylum seeker from Pakistan was 'lording' it up in a hotel whilst his application for asylum was processed.
Whilst I believe that there are genuine people seeking asylum out there. For every one 'proper' applicant, there will be 100 who aren't and who inevitably still get in the country at the expense of someone of British origin who is more deserving of governmental, economic and social support.
I understand that in the eyes of the rest of the world Britain wants to be a multi-cultural power, but I am firm believer in sorting your own problems before you take on someone else's.

Gotta agree with Spacehopper on this one. Better to find out why this elderly chap isn't receiving any benefit, and to be honest its got nothing to do with asylum seekers of any sort, if he is entitled to be getting paid, he should be getting paid, end of.
If for some reason (as it usually is) there has been a form lost in the post, or unreturned the benefits system usually stops all benefit without warning. Of course its a ***** take if you are 70 years old, as I'm sure day to day living for the senior of our citizens isn't easy if you rely on that money to be in on time, (or for anybody for that matter). Incidentally rather then blaming asylum seekers, why isn't anybody kicking the ***** out of the agencies for not giving this gent his due? He might have given his all for the country, and I for one believe he should be living an easy life now, but surely thats more an issue of government to resolve how these folk are repaid for their service.
As far as I am aware this country isn't one to link issues happily and prefers to deal with things individually, if you like on a case by case basis. As the government have a budget for asylum, so they do for benefits aswell. If we intermingled cases on this basis we could have all said lets forget going to Iraq and invest those same millions in the NHS where the people of the UK would have been directly benefitted.

Halevan, can you tell us why his benefit was stopped? As previously said, the fact that someone is white and/or 70 doesn't mean anything.

Got to agree with Spacehopper, I'm afraid. If there was a civil war in our country and you left to live in, say, France for a while how would you feel? I still think they should tighten up controls, but you can't start attacking people just because they look different or they come from 'somewhere foreign"

Nice to see reason breaking out here :)
Speaking as an economic migrant that is.

Welcome back Phan. All things considered how did it go over in Sweden?
As for the original post, I will reserve judgement until a reason for the benefit cancellation has been posted!
