happyhippy 19-03-2008, 21:20 Kevin Gage has got the Green Dragon in Dronfield, I believe, and Carl Bradshaw is now a builder.

Agent Gypo 19-03-2008, 22:22 From our 2000 - 2002 squads...
Lee Morris (£3m!!!), 27, was released by Yeovil Town last season and has since been unable to find another club.
Wayne Quinn, 32, plays for Penzance, after being unable to find a pro club since he was dropped by West Ham aged 28.
Carl Asaba, 35, was released by Millwall in 2006 and has not found another club.
Paul Devlin, 35, is now at Halesowen.
Robert Page, 33 is at Huddersfield.
Iffy Onuora, 38, is now a coach at Lincoln.
Jon Harley, 28, is still at Burnley.
David Kelly was last at Derby as a coach, aged 42.
Jon-Paul McGovern, 27, was last at Swindon and seems to be unattached.
Andrew Morrison resigned as assistant manager of Worcester City last season, aged 37.
Shaun Derry, aged 30, is currently at Crystal Palace.
Shane Nicholson, 37, is a coach at Chesterfield.
Patrick Suffo, 30, now plays for non-league Spanish side UD Puertollano.
Gus Uhlenbeek (my tip for worst ever Blades full-back), 37, is without a club since being released by Halifax.
Laurent Djaffo is an agent and scout.
Lee Thompson, 26, is now at Boston.
Georges Santos, 37, plays for Farsley Celtic.
Frank Talia, 35, was released by Wycombe last season.
Tyrone Thompson, 26, signed for Crawley in 2007 but is yet to play a game.
Steve Yates, 38, was released by Morecambe last season and is without a club.
Rob Ullathorne, 36, plays for Tamworth.
Wilko De Vogt, 33, plays for non-league Dutch side Top Oss.
Alex Notman (loan signing from Man Utd), now plays for non-league Wroxham, aged 28.
Peter Ndlovu, 35, is now a player-coach at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Anyone know what happened to James Thomas? He came on loan from Blackburn. I seem to remember him scoring 1 goal after missing loads of sitters in about 10 games for us. He went mental in front of the kop and never played for us again.
freyasdad 19-03-2008, 22:54 Plenty of time on your hands then AG?
Must be nice to sit on the computer and compile a set of facts like that.
Good effort fella.

happyhippy 20-03-2008, 01:54 I did not know that about Bradshaw! i forgot about him where did he go to after he left blades?
He didn't as I recall.
Charlie Hartfield has had unemployed spells on and off over the last few years. Last I heard he was doing personal fitness stuff. Given how he played, maybe he's helping Curtis Woodhouse out, who is now a professional boxer. Charlie was of course an amateur boxer before joining Arsenal.
Mitch Ward had the Black-a-Moor Inn at Troway some years ago, but what he's doing now I've no idea.
canadablade 20-03-2008, 02:03 Colin Franks works in the printing industry just outside Toronto in a place called Oakville and Cliff Calvert is a fireman in Burlington.
Speak to Colin every once in a while.
Alan Woodward is in Tulsa USA not sure what he does for a living there but, think its something to do with football.
Robbie Loving 20-03-2008, 02:33 He didn't as I recall. .
He went to Norwich, Wigan and Scunthorpe after us.
I'm sure he went to Millwall too for some reason.
jossyboy 20-03-2008, 07:31 good thread this, what-ever happened to martin smith after he moved to huddersfield?
John Harkes is now Director of Youth Development at DC United in the US.
Roland Nilsson (best right back Owls ever had) is head coach at Malmo FF in Sweden. He and I share the same birthday...just found out. :D
Phil King is retired from footy but still runs out for Aston Villa in the Annual Masters Tournament. He is also involved with Swindon Town and currently commentates on their matches for BBC Radio Wiltshire.
That'll do for now as I have to get to work. :D

Nice to see that we've had some memorable characters at Hillsborough.
Far short of Tony currie, I can't really remember any famous ex players of united.

And for me seeing as Farmboy posted Roland Nilsson (best right back Owls ever had)
I would have Len Badger ahead of Nilsson in any team of mine :P
Stockers 20-03-2008, 11:56 Dane Whitehouse - work for a parcel delivery firm in Sheffield.
Glynn Hodges - Youth team coach at Blackburn (looking fitter now than he did in his palying days).
Paul Beesley - was youth team coach at Leeds and Notts County last season.
Wayne Quinn - someone pointed out playing for Penzanze - also owns a caravan park down there.
F.Sidebottom - as for Wednesday having characters, don't make me laugh....Wednesday are one of the dullest clubs around highlighted by the number of dullard farmer boys who support them. You can spot a Wednesday fan at 100 paces, usually accompanied by a beer belly, a jumper tucked into their stone wash jeans, a pair of reebok classics and a pair od white sports socks to match their pale completion.
Also Wednesday have more ginger fans than any other team in the league - FACT!!
Kuqi left the Owls to play for a Premier side I think. By now, he has dropped a division or two I suspect. Some player left the Owls and scored regularly for Huddersfield but I can't remember his name.
NEKRO138 20-03-2008, 11:59 Alan Cork is now tour guitarist for Judas Preist.

Have a look at Agent Gypo's post near the top regarding your 2000-02 squad.
All went on to.......absolutely nothing.
Doesn't quite compare with the Owls squads of the 90's where we had a full team of internationals does it?
NEKRO138 20-03-2008, 12:04 Incredible how a simple thread about what former players are up to can so easily turn into yet another tedious argument.

Chris Woods - a Blades living legend, the way he let Deano's scuff through his hands and legs of the way he shouldered the ball to Bobby, Bobby, Bobby Davison!!! :hihi:
David Hirst - runs Foxhills Slimming World, unsuccessfully.
Chris Waddle - sits up the boozer in Dore supping all day while half the village have a go on his daughter!!
Carlton Palmer - ran an unsuccessful restaurant
Phil King - still trying to bring the mullet look back into fashion

I wondered how long it would be before someone stuck the oar in. Go on then, as you insist on being pedantic, lets have the list of your wonderful ex-players that have achieved so much since 2000 (relegation from Premier League).
I didn't include players like Phil Jagielka, Kazim-Richards and Marcus Bent, as everyone knows what they are doing.
Stockers 20-03-2008, 13:27 You've got to laugh at the "side full of internationals" quote about the 1991 to 1993 team, i can think of the following;
Woods
Nilsson
Worthington
who could be classed at full time internationals, i am willing to stand corrected though.

Does that make Franny Jeffers and England international?
I didn't realise the current Blades side is peppered with internationals;

Gary Speed
Paddy Kenny

Can't you guys just find players that you like/liked and find the info about what they're up to now instead of pointing out how much better ex-blades players have done than owls and vice versa? It's pathetic and not what this thread was started for.

He is still managing Oldham and doing a fine job too.Pressman played for Portadown last season before calling it a day and becoming goalkeeping coach at Scunny.
This was in our local newspaper, last week. It is a fairly long article that I have shortened.
English soccer star Paul Peschisolido is to run a summer camp in Pickering. (Pickering is just east of Toronto).
According to Pickering Soccer Club business manager , work is under way to allow local soccer star Paul to conduct a soccer camp this July. He's expected to be back in Pickering in May .
Peschisolido whose parents still reside in Pickering is anxious to return home to Canada and attend to the youth soccer camp--to be called the Pesch Premeirship Academy- in Pickering.
Thought that CB may pay him a visit as Pickering is a 15 minute drive for him (and the next town to where I live).
Kuqi left the Owls to play for a Premier side I think. By now, he has dropped a division or two I suspect. Some player left the Owls and scored regularly for Huddersfield but I can't remember his name.

Brian Deane
Out of those only Brian Deane could be classed as a famous United player like Tony Currie. All the others made their name at other clubs and came to the Blades at the end of their careers! If your doing it that way I could easily reel off a load of Wednesday players like Steve Nicol, Bruce Grobbelaar, Dave Bennett etc...
Anyway no one has mentioned Thierry Henry double and ex-United player Ashley Sestanovich, now detained at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Earwiggo 26-03-2008, 11:40 I would have Len Badger ahead of Nilsson in any team of mine ???
CB,CB,CB tut tut, now I know that you know nowt abaht football!
Chris Waddle is a soccer pundit and journalist, Carlton Palmer I think, runs an internet based estate agency and David Hirst is a Beer Quality Inspector (taste division) for John Smiths, Tetleys, Marstons, Abbeydale Brewery, Greene King, Stones', Carlsberg and I think, 38 other breweries. All still live in Sheffield... Once an Owl, always an Owl.
Earwiggo 26-03-2008, 12:10 Thinking abaht it, Roland Nilsson is probably the best right back that ever played for anyone at any time in this country, if not the world. I went to the Rumbelows Cup final in 1991 and taped it to watch later when I got back. During the build up (in which all the pundits said that Wednesday hadn't got a chance), most pundits were praising 'young Lee Sharpe' It was young Lee Sharpe this and young Lee Sharpe that, my word, he was going to slaughter us!!!
In the 3rd or 4th minute, he skinned Nilsson down the left, fired in a cross, and some multi millionaire stabbed it just wide. Bricking it? We were for the first 10 minutes! How many times do you think the great young Lee Sharpe touched the ball in the last 80 minutes?
ANSWER: About 5 and he did absolutely nothing. Roland tied him in knots, anticipated every pass to Sharpe, and halted any move or pass that young Lee Sharpe tried to make. Not one of the pundits mentioned young Lee Sharpe at half or full time, and Roly got no credit from them for putting the great young Lee Sharpe (and one or two other United 'greats') in his pocket. Roly did it week in and week out in the Prem, NOBODY ever got the better of him for more than 5 minutes. The man was sheer class!!

F. Sidebottom 26-03-2008, 16:18 Thought that you would be old enough though to recognize sarcasm when you see it. :gag:
I wouldn't have called it sarcasm and it didn't really add anything to the 'debate'. If he'd come back and criticised some of the characters who Wednesday have had over the years then fair enough. But to say we haven't had any, well there isn't any point in getting in to that argument - I think everyone knows we have.
I don't mind a bit of banter - but it's got to arouse a certain level of interest. I'd rather battle it out with some of the more 'whiley' blades on here.
Now, if you don't mind, I have white socks to wash.

Methinks that some of you guys are getting a little "twitchy" and allowing the humour of some individuals to go over your heads.
