View Full Version : Ramsay's kitchen nightmares Tarquin 19-03-2008, 17:54 Last in the series tonight:( Old_Bloke 19-03-2008, 18:00 I don't like the American shows as much as the British ones. Typical American programming - trying to make everything much more dramatic than it actually is. And what's with showing all the 'highlights' in a 60 second segment right at the start?? LeBoing 19-03-2008, 18:35 As soon as I start remembering what day and time good stuff is on telly the series finishes!! arrrgh!! I've quite enjoyed the US ones, they've been a bit different but pretty funny, the one on the other week with the chef that looked like a leprechaun was class!! And what's with showing all the 'highlights' in a 60 second segment right at the start?? yes, every eyebrow raised or change of facial expression gets a sound effect as though the auidence can't work it out. Tess 19-03-2008, 19:15 I love Gordon Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares, i think its hillarious how he just abuses everyone like they have made their restaurant shi*e on purpose!! Antics^^ 19-03-2008, 20:07 I love Gordon Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares, i think its hillarious how he just abuses everyone like they have made their restaurant shi*e on purpose!! Most restaurant owners need this abuse to wake them up from their inward thinking, most often it works. :| discovery 19-03-2008, 20:10 I love this programme (but definitely preferred the British version) and watch it most weeks but I never get to see the outcome as I turn over to watch Dexter on another station, just as he has renovated the restaurant, made the plan of action and is about to launch the new menu. As much as I love it, I wouldn't miss Dexter for it. haddockman 19-03-2008, 20:14 Love the British version, the American one he seems just to redecorate the restaurant and all is well, where the UK one seems much more realistic :) Still enjoyed the series though!! weenireeni 19-03-2008, 20:46 i think the american one is much more entertaining! i just love how all americans on the show seem to have been born with underserved confidence! wish they could send some my way! alternageek 19-03-2008, 20:47 the american one sucks for so many reasons a) not having ramsey narrate was a BIG mistake b) giving them a makeover when most of these places dont need it (or at the most need a lick of paint) c) no real follow up to whats happened d) not using the british producers e) the restaurants that were based on long island were no where as close to NYC as implied in the show. Babylon, Islip, Bellmore are all at least an hours train ride away. (thats just my personal pet peeve) its okay but i cant wait till the original is back on the air. Dave650 19-03-2008, 20:57 Did they not give the english ones a make over?! I like it anyway makes good viewing - especially as I don't particularly like cooking, ramsay or a americans but I always find meself watching it. alternageek 19-03-2008, 21:00 generally they keep the furniture give them some new curtains and paint in the UK one. the US one seems to give them new everything. Tarquin 19-03-2008, 22:20 Poor Martin;):loopy: Bladesman 19-03-2008, 22:36 I think it is great. Although the UK series is better. hennypenny 19-03-2008, 23:09 Poor Martin;):loopy: I would feel sorry for anyone who was treated that way, but the man was totally inadequate at his job. Fancy lying there in the restaurant while there were cockroaches roaming the kitchen, and mouldy food going out to guests :gag: When the restaurant got busy he just couldn't hack it. Tarquin 19-03-2008, 23:13 I would feel sorry for anyone who was treated that way, but the man was totally inadequate at his job. Fancy lying there in the restaurant while there were cockroaches roaming the kitchen, and mouldy food going out to guests :gag: When the restaurant got busy he just couldn't hack it. He had probably never done anything to make the restaurant busy & then when it was,he couldn't cope. The kitchen should have been shut down months ago.Even the owner couldn't see that before Gordon got there. magicaljen 20-03-2008, 05:47 Not seen as much of this series, much prefer the UK one! Gordon still a genius though :D nice_cheese 20-03-2008, 06:40 I perfer uk series such as Primeval,Hustle :hihi: Billy Casper 20-03-2008, 08:13 Ramsey's a clever bloke, sometimes in business you need a helping hand to realise new ideas etc, but there's never any excuse for dirty kitchens with rotting food! :gag: Dark Moomin 20-03-2008, 09:20 For those of yout hat have missed it they are all available on channel 4 ondemend online for free! don't even have to wait to download, just stream it direct. Watched all there was last weekend! alternageek 20-03-2008, 10:09 What I want to know is where was the health inspectors? NYC kitchens are supposed to be inspected (randomly - without notification) once a year. NEKRO138 20-03-2008, 10:11 I think they should change this programme's name to Ramsey: Kitchen Nightmare. Or Ramsey: ****. ChrisTodd 30-03-2008, 09:00 The US version concentrated more on the conflict and arguments than showing us how to improve the restaurants. Even Gordon Ramsey got in on the act by being more nasty and agressive than he should have been. Hopefully if there are any more UK versions they won't follow the same pattern. emmie 31-03-2008, 03:23 The uk one os far better but the american one is 10/10 for the cheesy entertainment factor!! They got progressively more ridiculous as the series went on. I was wretching at the final one - it was horrible!! |
