Can anybody tell me what this area is like? Have found a nice little house available to rent, but don't know much about the area. Particularly interested in crime levels, facilities etc.

Thank you!

Not much there but surrounded by countryside.

Quite a poor area as it is an ex coal mining village and quite depressing to look at.

Mastin Moor is very handy for the M1, thats about the best thing you can say about it.
Not much there, 1 shop and 1 pub. Shops, pubs etc are in Staveley which is about 10 mins drive away

MM isn't the best area, but neither is it the worst, a lot depends on which part you are looking at,

I would take a trip out there and see what it's like after dark.

Mastin Moor is mostly in the borough of Chesterfield, but the houses at the top of the hill near the M1 are in Bolsover District Council area. Former coal-mining area. Staveley is nearest shopping district. Chesterfield nearest large town. M1 dead handy for Sheffield/north; Mansfield/Nottingham/Derby/south.
