Going to view a house on Framlingham on Mon on the Arbourthorne estate and wondering if anyone can give me amy info about the area. I know it's near the Fellbrigg pub and near Arbourthorne school but that's about all I know, (Sheff a-z)
Been told that the outside of the house is due for modernisation, new windows etc but would like to know more about the estate, people, etc.

That particular section of arbourthorne is really near-on for the supertram, (literally round the corner-)

I had heard that there were a lot of gypsy families that had been moved into that area, (but that was at least five years ago, when I was living round there.)

it's convenient for town (less than 10 mins on the tram, 2 miles by road. and yes, there's the re-vamp of the windows and bathrooms and kitchens happening... so, some positives.

The Fellbrigg pub is now the Beacon church. You are dead handy for supertram on Framlingham. Also bus service goes along Eastern Avenue/Arbourthorne Road.

The council homes are due for modernisation (work is already taking place in that location). This will include a new kitchen, upstairs toilet, new bath, double glazing, central heating.

Subject to a separate bidding process, work will also commence on environmental improvements to the fronts (possibility of a hardstanding on front garden for a car to be parked; new garden walls, etc.) - but all depends if funds are available.

Children? You are just around the corner from the Arbourthorne Community Primary School on Eastern Avenue - the new school should open later this year.

Very young children? The Tiddlywinks Children's Centre (on Eastern Drive, just around the corner, one street away) will also open later this year.

Fisherman? Arbourthorne Pond close by (Eastern Avenue).

Shops: Northern Avenue (Co-op, plus mini-market), fish & chips; bookies, hairdressers, and a post office (not under threat of closure either!). A mini Mastrplan is currently being worked up for a new shopping and community centre on the former Mickley site on Norfolk Park (you are a 5 min walk away) - but whatever is built won't be there for a couple of years though.

Granny & Granddad? There is an extra care home on Guildford View (Norfolk Park). Smashing place.

And don't forget......Norfolk Heritage Park is very close by. Fantastic views of the city. Children's playground. Centre in the Park. New sports facilities. Currently displaying thousands and thousands of daffodils - take a walk and have a look!

And...if you signed up...... welcome to Arbourthorne!

well talk about comin all that way for nowt!
thanx Redrobbo for all the info, the road was really clean and tidy, quite a few private houses and yep the housing officer did indeed confirm that from april of this year, all new external modernisation was taking place, couldn't give a date for internal work but.........the house itself was a big letdown.
The garden was in an absolute state and the house itself was no better, was not very clean inside at all.
I'll be moving back as a single mum and the work and cash needed to make it habitable for myself and my son would be just too much for me to take it on.
but it hasn't stopped me from bidding on other props in the area, so I'm still keeping optimistic.

Hi Cutglass. Sorry to hear that the house itself was a disappointment, due to the previous occupants not keeping the inside clean, and the garden being in a state. Keep bidding on other properties in the area. You've obviously got sufficient priority or waiting time - so keep looking in the Admag or Property Shop.
Trust you find something suitable in the Arbourthorne area.

Talking of modernisation...
Has anyone already had it done on here?
What do they do?
Do you know when they'll be going to the Algar Road area?
Cheers
