beansforyou 11-03-2005, 17:17 Hi Spinny,
When I was a single mum, I was determined not to let it stop me, I used to take my son (18months onwards) on the train, with rucksack & Pram! hehehe, we used to go down to cornwall as well as Butlins at Ingoldmells.
To get to Ingoldmells we used to use the National Express service, it goes straight there via Skegness, and they're always really helpful and friendly drivers, it's about £12 return if memory serves me right :) and free for kids under 5 i think.
I might be mistaken, but they also do different coachcards as well, such as young persons (under 25) and student, you cang et about 1/3 off, and they do promotions online, like £10 return ANYWHERE in the country...check them out

Cleethorpes is also a good day/weekend out, train in sheffield is only £10 return (free again for kids under 5) and b&bs are around £10 a night too, theres plenty to do and a really big market on a sunday.
Don't let anything stop you :D

graceomally 12-03-2005, 01:49 Hey beans for you and spinney!
I used to do camping at MAblethorpe, and we used the national express service too. We went by car one year but my partner came up at weekends from work on the bus. WE camped for the summer holiday every year in the council site. It was really cheap and cheerful but with young kids it was great. Sand, grass, swings, chips, ice-cream and other families from sheffield too, so other mums for company and chat in the evenings.
It poured with rain one year for two whole $%*" weeks. We had to hang out on in the arcades and the cafe got so used ot us we got extra sausages every day.
There are local buses too, or used to be, so you can got to see other places and you can get into skeggy too. My memory is of people being really helpful and friendly and a great time even tho, we usually had hardly any money at all and always had to stay in a tent.
Its a good idea to make a small emergency kit up before you go, with stuff like safety pins, plasters, etc and emergency contact numbers, etc. I used to put £10 in an envelope and keep it safe for emergencies, if it wasn't needed, when we got home we used it to buy fish and chips.
Hope you enjoy it, don't get too much sand in your bum! Take a wow camera (those throw away ones for £4.99 including developing) if you don't have any other, I still treasure my old seaside photos.
beansforyou 12-03-2005, 22:54 HI Grace,
I have to agree, the public bus services around the lincolnshire coast seem to be very friendly, me and a friend spent 2 weeks in the absolute middle of nowhere (between mablethorpe and cleethorpes) with our kids last year, and even though the buses weren't very frequent, they were always on time, and always helpful and friendly :)
If your planning to travel around whilst your there (I'd suggest mablethorpe, lovely beach and good shops) find out about bus services before you go on holiday, so your not wasting your holiday trying to find out boring info!
If I remember rightly just search google for bus services around them places :)
There is a direct bus service from Sheffield to Ingoldmells which runs on Mondays, Wednesdays,Fridays and Saturdays. It is route 20A/20B/20C, operated by Hunts coaches.

THANKS TO ALL OFF YOU THAT HELP ON THIS ONE.AS IT IS HARD ON YOUR OWN WITH KIDS WHEN YOU USE TO PARTNERS WITH CARS ECT. JUST DID NOT KNOW HOW BEST WAY TO GET THERE SAFE WITH BEING ON OWN WITH KIDS.
My mum goes to blackpool a couple of times a year and always uses rivelin travel. They pick you up from your home and drop you at your destination. They are friendly and even carry your bags for you. They go to different places so it may be worth giving them a ring and asking if they go.She as never had a fault with them in years. You can get a return with them home.:)
