Ska everytime. Prefer Specials or Selecter or something a bit more old school than Madness though

http://www.corporation.org.uk/gig.php?gigID=171Afraid the kids take priority this weekend.

I did have the pleasure of seeing Mr Staples and The Specials a couple of times in the early 80's.

Why choose between classical and ska when you can have both at the same time?

I like both of those styles of music very much. If I had to choose though, it would be classical.

Age 14+ :o

I'm currently listening to Casablanca by Bad Manners, a wonderful tune.

I love both Classical and Ska though to answer the OP. Though post 1 is a bit vague :hihi:

Bad Manner were great when they played in Sheff in December.

14+ - it just means that if their parents want to go they can take their age 14+kids...if you think about it, some SKA fans might well have kids that ar 14+.

To be honest though, there'll be about one or two 14+s there.

In my opinion, it's good that young people have the opportunity to see and enjoy live music in a safe environment rather than have nothing to do.

Get yourself down - should be good!

I'm off this weekend, if I can find someone to come along with, I'm tempted. I've seen Madness, Beat, Selecter, BM all live, when I was younger.

I last saw Bad Manners when I was 16 at Roxys. OMG, that was 17 years ago :o:o :hihi: I missed out in December :(

I wasn't an expert on clubbing then. I only took enough money to buy 2 pints. And it started at 6pm, and went on until 2am. :o

I prefer the really old stuff from the late 50's and 60's. If you like Ska you should check out some of the re issues from the old Studio One label.

I was in my teens when the ska revival of the 80s happened. It was my first real love of music and from that I discovered the original ska and rocksteady from the 50s and 60s. Have been listening to ska for over 25 years and never tire of it, both first and second generation stuff.

The Trojan boxsets are great value for money for anyone wanting to have a listen to some early ska.

Did you manage to get down to see The Beat? Had I have read your thread earlier, I'd have said come down anyway...always a friendly crowd.

It was a great gig - I've put my pics from the gig on Flickr:
