lol, true! But some of them are still very funny.
Wouldn't mind going to see him, I love Alan Partridge.
missymarsbar 18-03-2008, 01:10 AM I hope Paul and Pauline Calf are incorporated into the show - I loved the Pauline Calf video when (s)he goes on about Lord Patrick of Swayze, who works in John Menzies and how she's writing her new book, under her pen name "Pauline Petite Vache"

He is hilarious doing Paul Calf
missymarsbar 18-03-2008, 01:33 AM Here's a bit of Paul Calf from Three Fights, Two Weddings and a Funeral.....
"Hello, my name is Paul Calf. Next Saturday, my sister Pauline is marrying a Greek bloke called Spiros. And I've got to get her a wedding present. Now, I was going to get her a complete silver service dinner set, but my supplier no longer works at the Crown Thistle Hotel. He's currently resident at Risely Remand centre where the cutlery is plastic for obvious reasons..."

Pauline BHG 28-10-2008, 01:40 AM I was at the show tonight and it was brilliant :D
My mates had ead reviews, and were a bit worried as they hadn't been good un's, but we weren't disappointed. Its a REALLY good show. I ADORE Alan Partridge !!! But i like all of the other characters too.
Theshow ended just before 10pm and a small crowd were gathered by the tourbuses, so myself and a mate decided to give it 10 mins. Amazingly, within that time Steve came out and signed autographs and posed for piccies. So i am now the proud owner of a pic of Me & Steve ARGHHHH!!
I came home and immediately looked for a ticket for the Dec 12th show as i'm in Sheffield that weekend, and someone must be looking down on me coz i got FLAMIN FRONT ROW :-o
jingle bells, jingle bells................
al_partridge 28-10-2008, 02:02 AM I was there tonight, and although I'm a massive Partridge/Coogan fan I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Only Partridge lifted the show out of mediocrity, and there were far too many songs.
Definitely not as good as the last tour, the first four characters seemed rather rushed and, Paul Calf aside, only seemed to be on for a few minutes each. Definitely not worth nearly 36 quid a ticket, even with the brilliance of Partridge.
I'd love to see a show which is purely Partridge, but this tour is like going to see a great band but having to sit through four mediocre supporting acts first.
Pauline BHG 28-10-2008, 02:11 AM I really enjoyed the first half, even Saxondale who i hadn't ever seen before. Partridge was on for 50mins but it absolutely flew by !
The only other tour i've been to was *The Man Who Thinks He Is It* one, and i think that one was pretty unbeatable !
ArtAngel 28-10-2008, 11:35 AM I too went to the show last night and am a HUUUGE Coogan fan. How disappointed I was. In short, the show seems incredibly under rehearsed.Too many songs some of which were not even funny.
The first 20 minutes of Patridge was pure magic though I mut say. Made my night but I left feeling ripped off.
Pauling Calf - Almost identical to the previous tour including reading from her latest book and saying 'I've had him' too many times...
Duncan Thicket - I did enjoy some of this but he was a little hesitant at times which WASN'T the character.
Paul Calf - Seemed very dated. Just a few belly laughs.
Saxondale - A little better with some funny moments but mostly nostalgic
Alan - The intro up until the period drama was pure AP Gold I thought. The rest was good but it drooped a bit. Didn't like the character effing and blinding though.
Finale - Embarrassingly drawn out. This is something Roy Chubby Brown would do.
I've always thought Steve Coogan was above most comedians on the circuit and TV with his intelligent comedy. Most of this was poorly written and under-rehearsed. Almost like a stop gap in his career at our expense.
DelMonte 28-10-2008, 12:30 PM oh dear oh dear I've been looking forward to this for months!!
what time do we need to be in our seats? Might not be able to get there til half eight....

Show actually started at about 7:40ish last night. First four characters lasted an hour or so (obviously with a break between each so he could get changed) and were mostly mediocre apart from the odd great line, then after an interval Partridge came on at 9:00 and stole the show as expected.
StopnSmile 28-10-2008, 01:46 PM I went last nioght too (Mon)
I have to agree - the Alan Partridge section was by far the best - real genius - The glove jsut had me wetting me self.
The first half seemed a little dated - it was something like 10 years back we were first laughing at "I've ad him" and "Bag o Sh@te" and there has been no character progression - still funny - but not as it once was (its the same jokes from Paul and Pauline as always)
I loved Saxondale - think that he could go a long way
Duncan Thickett - I remember him as a nervous comedian that stuttered and stammered through the openings of his sections, bit more grown up and ready - which was nice way to move on and again this with the dummy had me in stitches.
Above all else - Alan - King Alan, all the way - the AP section made the whole night - Back of the net!

cheers fella, best get a wriggle on then!
Chris BIO 28-10-2008, 03:28 PM I thought it was good but there were too many songs, it was a bit 'kids from Fame' for me, breaking into a song and dance and all that. I read some shocking reviews but was pleasantly surprised - maybe it just translated better at the City Hall than it would do in a half empty arena.
All of the characters got laughs, I didn't expect Saxondale to be as good, just wasn't keen on the play at the end either. Good night though, all things considered!
DelMonte 28-10-2008, 03:41 PM Cheers Chris and others I'm looking forward to it again now but not with massive expectation!!
fabulous_girl 28-10-2008, 06:42 PM I really enjoyed the show, partridge was by far the best. it was amazing! final ditty brilliant too- been in my head all day! I wish he hadnt made so many ross kemp digs though, he's the object of my affection!
Pauline BHG 28-10-2008, 07:05 PM I enjoyed the ditty at the end too :D
DelMonte 29-10-2008, 12:45 AM B!oody brilliant!
Saxondale a bit weak and the first half maybe a bit rushed but Duncan Thicket and Paul Calf were comedy gold!
Thought the Alan Partridge set was cracking, even the play!
Final ditty hilarious too, and yes he is a ****! :o:thumbsup:
top4718 29-10-2008, 04:55 PM Went to the show last night and was a little disappointed.
I always enjoy Coogans TV shows and like the characters he creates.
I found some of the material in the first half of the show to be particularly weak, some of the jokes were ancient. Also this half descended into songs far too regularly.
The short support acts between each character were cringingly bad.
Fortunately along came Alan Partridge to save the evening his section of the show was very funny ("why do chickens need room, they only run around like idiots") and worth the wait.
All in all a good rather than a great evening.
