twibstix 17-03-2008, 06:16 PM Hi all
I run the agility classes on Morthen Road in Wickersley.
We currently train on Sundays from 1pm. £5 per dog per hour.
Now to set a few things straight.
We will take a dog on a socialisation level from the age of its second jab.
We allow training to start for smaller dogs who have finished growing before a year, for larger dogs such as collies/labs/akitas or other mixes which are big boned they have to wait until such time as they have finished growing. They are taught the contact equipment, tunnels and to jump over 9 inch high jumps, any training done in this way is done in 10 minute increments. Any younger dog, if it is mature for its age may (at our discretion) get used to being around the equipment, seeing other dogs work on it, and going through jump wings with the poles on the floor. We stress that the dog's health must be your first consideration, if we feel it is not we will take decisions regarding training out of your hands.
We have 2 regular trainers and one "part time" who takes over the beginners if we get very busy so waiting round time is kept to a minimum.
Finally, anyone will be made very welcome if they wish to come and have a look round - just not this Sun please as we are not there!!!
Thank you for your time

twibstix 17-03-2008, 06:19 PM Knew I would forget something.
One of our trainers competes with a Grade 7 dog and has represented the UK at Crufts in 2007 (ending up 3rd).
The other regular trainer (me) competes with a Grade 2 jrt (my first competition dog) he wont be grade 2 for long. I also judge regularly at shows up and down the country.
We have 10 years experience in competitive agility and your dog will be taught to competition standard, all in the name of fun, fun, fun. There is another club locally which offers training but none of the trainers there compete or have interest at the level we do.
Thank you again

Thanks for putting that information and thread up. I hope lots of people come and join you and get some exercise for their dogs and themselves too.
I am sure you will get lots of people coming this summer as well (just not my hunny monsters i don't think). If you have a web site, send us a link or some info to our site, and we will put you up on the rain site.
Gemima 18-03-2008, 10:19 AM Thanks for the helpfull info twibsticks. I am always looking for reputable training venues, as I pass on recommendations in my line of work (dog grooming and APDT Trainee).
It is refreshing to see that you put the dogs welfare first. I am local to you, so may pop down sometime if thats ok?
KATIEB_23 18-03-2008, 11:18 AM Thanks for that info :)
To confirm, you will not be doing a class on Sunday 23rd March
Next one is on Sun 30th March at 1pm?
Sounds great, hopefully Gadget and I will see you then! :)
twibstix 18-03-2008, 12:32 PM Unfortunately for Gadget, the 30th is the second day of our first show here this year, you would be more than welcome, as anyone would to come and have a look at the set up though but would not be able to train I am afraid.
Thank you for the interest, see you soon.

KATIEB_23 16-04-2008, 11:32 AM Hiya
Is it still OK to come along this Sunday at 1pm with Gadget? :)
Would he be able to actually do some agility or would we just have to watch for our first session?
He is a 6-7yr staffie cross. He has not done any agility classes before, but has gone round an agility course on two occasions at Fayres and loved it & seemed like a natural (apart from the tunnel which took some coaxing!)
twibstix 16-04-2008, 12:12 PM Hiya
Due to cicumstances beyond our control we have had to move training to this Thursday (17) from 5pm then onto Monday and Thursday from 24th.
Sorry for messing folk around, not having a good time of it with our hounds at mo (we have 11) I will let everybody know if this changes any more.
In the meantime you can always get me on 07949 466911.
Thank you for the continued interest - see you Thursday or Thursday week?!?!?!?
KATIEB_23 16-04-2008, 12:48 PM Oh thats a shame I've been looking forward to it for a while! :(
Unfortunately I don't finish work until 5:30pm and the earliest I would be able to nip home to pick up dog & get to Wickersley would probably be at least 6:30pm, so will have to give this one a miss :(
Please let me know if you ever have any classes at weekends or late on weeknights.
Hope your hounds are OK :) xx
twibstix 16-04-2008, 01:48 PM You have plenty of time any evening we train, we will be outside until at least 8pm!!
See you soon.

So it's not a a set "we all start at xx and finish at xx" kind of thing...
