So really you can never get bored as the more ingredients the more interesting.... so I suppose theres a slight similarity to men really  msbehavin 11-03-2005, 12:42 if we are comparing men to chocolate (which is slightly off topic but also quite interesting) then I would have to say I want mine as big as possible, quite hard but with a soft centre, smartly wrapped, sweet with no bitterness and nicely packaged.... (but then we don't always get what we want do we?):suspect: theflyingfish 11-03-2005, 12:43 Originally posted by Fluff why cant women live without chocolate? and why does it not have the same effect on men? they just don't get it do they?!! I think it is a social construct - you can't turn the television on without women craving chocolate, and every magazine goes on about women and chocolate and how they can't go without it, whether it is true or not, everyone gets caught up in the hype. Personally I think chocolate is way over rated over processed muck and revolting. adaline 11-03-2005, 12:44 Ocasionaly I really crave some choc..... msbehavin 11-03-2005, 12:45 occasionally I really crave a man..... adaline 11-03-2005, 12:46 We shud get together....occasionally DanSumption 11-03-2005, 12:47 For most of my life I've been able to take or leave chocolate. But recently I started eating it a bit, then a bit more, than a bit more... suddenly I find myself acting like a woman. It's scary. Men, heed my warning, just say no to chocolate! msbehavin 11-03-2005, 12:48 awww sweetheart thanks but having seen your pic on hot or not I think maybe am a tad too mature for you!!! Will only torment the life out of you (ask Josh Sheff for details lol):heyhey: ANGELUS 11-03-2005, 12:48 I need my chocolate at least once in a few days otherwise I get moody and irritable... and I'm a bloke. Good old bit of Yorkie or Dairy Milk seems to pep me up for a few days or a bar of Morrisons own Milk Chocolate! 29p a bar... tastes like a dream! adaline 11-03-2005, 12:49 Thats wot they all say ;) :D pussycat 11-03-2005, 13:14 Originally posted by theflyingfish I think it is a social construct - you can't turn the television on without women craving chocolate, and every magazine goes on about women and chocolate and how they can't go without it, whether it is true or not, everyone gets caught up in the hype. Personally I think chocolate is way over rated over processed muck and revolting. I think you might just be right, aviating fishy one. I'm really not bothered about choc, but then I don't watch much telly, never read those soul destroying women's magazines and don't really have many female friends, so I don't pick up on the message. When it comes to biscuits though....that's a different story.... is a whole packet of custard creams per day a lot? Clare85 11-03-2005, 15:19 I'm not bothered about chocolate. Yeah I eat it but its like a girly girl thing. E.g) 'Oh booo hooo I have just been dumped, I am going to go home and eat 26 galaxy bars and watch Bridget Jones, boooo...' sparklesista 11-03-2005, 15:21 Originally posted by Clare85 I'm not bothered about chocolate. Go out and have fun I guess!! ptigga 11-03-2005, 15:43 Originally posted by ANGELUS I need my chocolate at least once in a few days otherwise I get moody and irritable... and I'm a bloke. In real chocolate you can taste the cocoa. Try a nibble of Green And Black's 70%. nick2 11-03-2005, 15:45 I only realy like very dark, bitter, organic choc, milk or white makes me feel realy sick. theflyingfish 15-03-2005, 05:55 Originally posted by ptigga Ugh! I think that proves my point about it being a social construct - if it was really addictive, then women would be eating the green and blacks stuff, not the cheap stuff we call chocolate. That's just addicttion to the concept of chocolate, feeling like women should be eating it. I mean if you read Elle, Glamour, Marie Claire Real etc you would get the idea that if you don't somehow orgasm over a bar of galaxy then somehow you aren't a proper woman. xafier 15-03-2005, 07:23 I used to eat chocolate all the time, infact, I used to munch anything snack related I could get my hands on... usually crisps, twix's and jaffa cakes... but now I rarely do that... I've still got chocolate and sweets left from Christmas!! but I do occasionally pick up a multi-pack of salt a vinigar crisps and eat the entire 6 packs in one sitting  I guess a lot of people eat chocolate when your down, I know thats generally why I eat it, when I'm moping... doesnt chocolate have some sort of chemical property to it that cheers you up? I'm sure I read that somewhere Jamie 15-03-2005, 09:26 I'll eat chocolate for a quick energy boost ... maybe have a marathon (snickers) if I'm out walking. I always regret it after though. The stuff always gives me a headache and I get the feeling that I'm filling my body with junk. StarSparkle 15-03-2005, 10:47 Originally posted by xafier I guess a lot of people eat chocolate when your down, I know thats generally why I eat it, when I'm moping... doesnt chocolate have some sort of chemical property to it that cheers you up? I'm sure I read that somewhere Yeah, it does. I think it's Phenylalanine(?), a chemical that produces a similar high to the feeling of falling in love. Gives you a lovely, quick boost - then drops you down after it wears off! So it's great for a quick burst of energy and a pretty-much immediate mood lift, but you usually end up feeling crapper than ever! Still, I love Chocolate. Mmmmm, chocolate ...... StarSparkle  xafier 15-03-2005, 11:02 Originally posted by StarSparkle I think it's Phenylalanine(?) you sure? :? if I remember correctly from my roller blading days thats what the cheap nasty wheels were made of, some weird plastic lol MeGe 15-03-2005, 11:04 I enjoy a chocolate once a week or so but I don't feel the addiction that women usually have... I guess chocolate is not a MAN thing... StarSparkle 15-03-2005, 11:28 Originally posted by xafier you sure? :? if I remember correctly from my roller blading days thats what the cheap nasty wheels were made of, some weird plastic lol :D Whoops, no, I'm wrong - apparently it's Theo-Bromine, whatever that is. (Embarrassed smilie). That'll teach me to post before I've had a strong cup of tea! StarSparkle DanSumption 15-03-2005, 11:52 Chocolate does contain phenylalaline though, and it does promote a feel-good factor (it breaks down to the neuro-transmitter dopamine). So does nutra-sweet. If you have too much of it, it makes you nutty (and there's some evidence from studies in mental hospitals that it brings on psycopathic tendencies in people who are already pre-disposed to them). So... don't have too much chocolate. Or diet coke, come to that. JoeP 15-03-2005, 11:55 Hiya, In Nutrasweet PA present in the form of Aspartame - that then breaks down to PA, methanol and Aspartic Acid. The main 'happy chemical' in chocolate that's psychologically active is theobromine, which is also the part that's not good for dogs. Just as caffeine is in principle a toxn to humans, theobromine is toxic to dogs in the same sort of mild way. Joe Moonfire 15-03-2005, 12:04 I think it's a person thing rather than a specific gender, but yes I do think the media - in all it's forms, does put out the message that women need it more than men. Choose between a man and chocolate? .....chocolate will win everytime ;) xafier 15-03-2005, 12:17 Originally posted by Moonfire Choose between a man and chocolate? .....chocolate will win everytime ;) I think man + chocolate wins actually ;) or maybe thats just the women I've been with? :suspect:  Jamie 15-03-2005, 12:33 BAD JAMIE !! MovingOn 23-03-2005, 12:19 Man with chocolate for me *hints to hubby* lol Abdul 23-03-2005, 12:24 I could probably live off Snickers bars  What I do like about sweet things in general, apart from the tasty chocolate, chewy caramel and crunchy peanuts is that I have noticed sweet foods reduce my appetite and my general food consumption. In other words, I can have a few pieces of chocolate mid-morning, and not feel hungry until later in the evening. mmm....Abdul's lean mean fat reducing diet ™ The book will be out shortly StarSparkle 23-03-2005, 12:53 Originally posted by Abdul I could probably live off Snickers bars  What I do like about sweet things in general, apart from the tasty chocolate, chewy caramel and crunchy peanuts is that I have noticed sweet foods reduce my appetite and my general food consumption. However, as there are several hundred calories in an average bar of chocolate, your Lean Mean Fat Reducing Diet TM might not be the most successful :D :) Personally, I'm waiting for the day that Woody Allen's words regarding hot fudge sundaes(?) in "Sleeper" are found by scientists to be scientifically bang on the money! :P (I can dream!) Woody Allen's "Miles Monroe" goes into the hospital for routine surgery and wakes up 200 years later where eating hot fudge sundaes and smoking cigarettes is good for you. Having slept through the apocalypse, Miles wakes up with his neurosis still in tact. The world is now an impersonal police state, where curious men of science, with no sense of humor or humanity, ply him for information about the long-forgotten past. http://www.cityofangelsfilmfest.org/CAFF99/sleeper.htm Starsparkle Check out this page: http://www.icecreamsundae.com/whosaidwhat.html vince_david 03-11-2006, 08:35 if we are comparing men to chocolate (which is slightly off topic but also quite interesting) then I would have to say I want mine as big as possible, quite hard but with a soft centre, smartly wrapped, sweet with no bitterness and nicely packaged....
