I've just discovered that guitar legend Robin Trower is playing at the Leadmill on the 20th of March - is anyone going? This probably won't mean anything to anyone under 30 but back in the 70's he was one of the best guitarists around and made a string of great albums like For Earth Below, Bridge of Sighs, Victims of the Fury etc.. I think I last saw him live back in about the late 1980s, but I've absolutely no idea whether he can still play like that now. A quick Google for his website shows that (like me) he's a rather more portly figure these days. Anybody know any more?

Wow, what a blast from the past! Yeah, I'm up for Robin Trower, and I can think of one or two old friends who might too.

Judging from the massive reply to this posting, it doesn't look as if he'll be raking much money in from this gig.
victims of the fury was a good album from what i can remember i dont no if time has treated it well in this age of modern rock what date is this concert anyway

Now that's a blast from the past - didnt hear him first time round though! A friends boyfriend really liked him when we were students - he thought he could play and sing like him (he couldnt).
I'd forgotten his name - but goggling's just confirmed its the
right guy..I doubt anyone I know now has heard of him though..
Panda - its the 20th (according to the first post)

Actually on a technicality, Robin Trower didn't sing at all on any of his albums as far as I know - it was bassist James Dewar who did all the vocals, and on later albums it was former Cream bassist Jack Bruce. So it's quite possible your friend's bloke did sing like him after all...
I was in two minds whether to go to this (put it another way, I'd like to but at my advanced age it takes a few days to pluck up the courage to go out after dark in Sheffield and run the risk of being robbed, mugged, knifed etc.) but now I've found out I need to be somewhere way down South on Monday morning so it looks as though Sunday has just vanished anyway. Drat.
