Does anyone remember the murder of a young boy in the 1980's on either Roe Lane or Shirecliffe Lane? Just wondered if anyone remembers the incident as well as I do?

Eleke95 17-03-2008, 20:29 I remember it very well lisalee - The boy's name was Peter (I'm almost certain on that)and it was at the bottom of Shirecliffe Lane. I remember coming past on the bus (I live quite near) and seeing all the tape across the bottom of the road and police everywhere. I found out the morning after that it was infact Peter that had been murdered. I was about 16/17 at the time and he was around the same age - maybe a little younger. lisalee 18-03-2008, 08:58 I remember it very well lisalee - The boy's name was Peter (I'm almost certain on that)and it was at the bottom of Shirecliffe Lane. His name was Peter, but he was 12. He was a good friend of mine. His best friend was called Paul, Peter and Paul lol. Pauls second name was Atkinson I think. Eleke95 18-03-2008, 14:56 Hi lisalee - I've just checked with my mum and apparently I was 14 when it happened so yes he would have been 12. Even though I knew him from Roe Lane, I actually knew him before that when I lived at Attercliffe. His mum had the hairdressers shop across the road from us and my mum and his mum were friends. lisalee 03-01-2011, 00:42 Lisalee, whats your motive for wanting to know about my Super Fantastic Great Mate Peter XXXXX. No motive. We used to be great friends too :) How do you know him? Billiethekim 03-01-2011, 13:53 I remember Peter Spowage, we lived on the same road & went to school together. He past away in January 1986 aged 14, it was a real shame he had to go so young. lisalee 03-01-2011, 14:17 I remember Peter Spowage, we lived on the same road & went to school together. I cant remember how long Ernest got for the murder - I remember he was a caretaker at Salmon Pastures as I was a student there at the time and would often have a break with him each week before we moved up to the main site at Shirecliffe for the evenings teaching session. (Salmon astures was an annexe of Shirecliffe College on Attercliffe) I did not know Peter (god bless) mumsy dualmono21 30-10-2011, 23:03 i used to go to school with pete and was even in the same class as him for some studies, even now i still think about him im going from memory but i seem to remember that he was actually related to the guy that actually killed him tanith65 09-04-2012, 10:49 Hi, did you find out everything you wanted about Peter. I know your original post was some time ago. Peter was 14, he would have been 15 in May of 1986. He was murdered 13 January 1986 (his mum's birthday). The trial was October of that year, and Ernest Roebuck received 15 years for the murder. I know someone suggested that Peter was related to Ernest. I am certain that he was NOT related to him. Peter knew him from the local corner shop, and through a school friend. pauuul 09-04-2012, 11:09 hi peter wos not related to ernest and he is still in prison and will not get out as he still says he didnt kill him ,, i met ernest afew years ago as i wos at his mums wen he came with a prison officer to see his mum for afew hours before she died tanith65 09-04-2012, 13:29 Hi Pauuul, I didn't know he was still in prison, assumed he would have been released quite a while ago. Take care |
