View Full Version : Live in Longley, have a car, beware.
PaulTansley 10-03-2005, 21:08 Two nights on the trot some youths with balaclava's walking the streets checking out motors.
The night before last there were two of them.
Last night the same guys this time with another two doing the same thing.
This is after midnight, so just beware and keep an eye out for them.
pretty_polly 10-03-2005, 21:21 Thanks for that I live in Longley and there have been three break-inns in cars in the last two weeks that I've seen. Can't have nothing to yourselves anymore.
Where about have you seen them?

Yes, mine was broken into 3 weeks ago. Seems that it's getting more common and by the sounds of it it's the same group each time.
Have the police been notified?
Longley ha ha:hihi:
Just get out of the area!!!!!!!
matsalleh 11-03-2005, 07:37 Your constructive advice is well received :loopy:

Every area (even the posh ones) have break-inns from time to time, not just Longley. So I don't know why your saying "get out of the area"
Yeah the police have been notified but havn't done anything as I know.

typical response from a 20 something chav , maybe one of the hooded one's roaming around .
cycleracer , where abouts in longley names of streets please.
No seriously, car crime is more widespread in poorer areas of course! Seriously where would you rather leave your car, longley or Ecclesall??
I lived on Lindsay Rd and our car got broke into twice in 6 months, I then left to live in Fulwood. 2 years on, nothing has happened...
That's pretty poor reasoning Sony! Cars get nicked anywhere where there's an opportunity.
Anyway, whats to stop the baddies driving their stolen S5 car up to S10 or S11 for a bit of a swap?! Pinching AND joy riding in one evening's entertainment.
fridgeman 11-03-2005, 09:26 :o you moved to fulwood , good grief were you on medication :loopy:
like you say, seriosly ,what car did you have when living on lindsay (i always thought that came under parson x , although i could be wrong) and what car have you not had tampered with whilst at fulwood?

Same car, apart from the colour.
C reg polo on Lindsay road
M reg polo in fulwood.
Ousetunes 11-03-2005, 09:36 Actually, I think I've worked out why crime is low in Fulwood and Hallam. There's a gypsy camp up on Redmires and the police simply cannot help themselves scanning the area from the safe distance of their helicopter.
So, you want low crime? Get some travellers to drop their anchor in a field nearby!
NB - I am ofcause, joking!

never known any car crime in Fulwood...or Lodge Moor. Kids just dont go round nicking cars, its just 'not cool' here, and they have the money to buy their own so nicking them seems a bit pointless.

...Except for mine last week.... :( and next door had to call the police because someone was breaking into the garage over the road...
Also chances are the people who break in to cars/houses etc in Fulwood don't actually come from Fulwood. It 'makes sense' (erm sort of) for people with bad intentions who live in a less well off area to travel to the more well off areas to nick stuff...
Anyway having money doesn't stop people stealing unfortunately :(

Stats show that Hallam has the highest car theft and house burglary rates in the city. You think the criminals arent capable of taking a bus?
They're higher because the stuff's more worth stealing!

Good Englishist :hihi:
I was approached on southey green road last night by group of youths asking if I wanted to sell our recovery truck, Now I have read this I wonder why they wanted it !!!
They match the description mentioned above, so perhaps the are planning to expand

I know quite a few people in Fulwood who have had cars nicked off their drives, including my parents. There was even an article in the Star that the police were focusing on the area due to the number of car thefts.

Obviously having a flashy BMW or lexus on the drive is going to attract attention anywhere! But I still am convinced that I'd 100x rather leave my car on Fulwood road or Ecclesall road south than Barnsley Road or Firth Park Road...
