View Full Version : Victoria Pub, Cemetery Road theimposter 10-03-2005, 18:58 IS there such a pub on Cemetery Road....I've been told there is but I think it might be a red herring.... jake 10-03-2005, 20:18 The Vine is on Cemetery Rd, and down at the bottom nr London Rd is Dulo - which was the Beer Engine for many years - cannot remember what it was called before that... but no Victoria - maybe someone has confused it with the Vine? carcrash 11-03-2005, 05:49 I think it was the royal oak before the beer engine. There did used to be another pub on there before the flats were built but I have no idea of the name. muddycoffee 12-03-2005, 18:43 There is no Victoria listed in the A-Z of sheffield Pubs on Cemetry road. An no other pub at all in Kelly's Directory of 1969 carcrash 12-03-2005, 18:48 Do you know what the pub on Washington road was called? Was that the victoria. Plain Talker 12-03-2005, 18:55 The only pub called the victoria I can remember, was one down hillsborough/owlerton, which was demolished almost 20 yrs ago when penistone road was widened. it was not far from the Swann Morton Cutlery/ surgical instruments place. carcrash, try picturesheffeld (dot )co (dot ) uk, and see if that turns up anything? I know there are pics of washington rd on there you might strike lucky PT muddycoffee 12-03-2005, 19:09 Originally posted by carcrash Do you know what the pub on Washington road was called? I think the earlier poster may have been referring to the Lansdowne, which was kind of opposite the old cinema, and at the beggining of Lansdowne road which was demolished in the 1990s. muddycoffee 12-03-2005, 19:13 Originally posted by Plain Talker The only pub called the victoria I can remember, was one down hillsborough/owlerton PT how about the roundhouse on gleadless road, that's the victoria. |
