As many know it is the practice of soaps to change actors playing a character form time to time. The usual reason is to increase viewing figures (especially amongst younger females) by replacing an actor with a better looking replacment.
It works like this:
1) The character is written out of all storylines for a few months
2) They are then refered to ("he's upstairs" etc) but unseen for a few more months
3) A new (better looking) actor suddenly appears as this character in the hope the audience will not notice.
Now regular viewers of Coronation Street will be aware that Albert Tatlock has not appeared in the show for some time. However, from next week he will be back but played by a new actor. See below.
