Being as i love a good steak (preferably with a creamy peppercorn sauce), where is the best place to get one in Sheffield. Rossi's on London road is my personal favourite at moment but want to know where else people recommend.

Piccolo's just off West Street. Big, thick slab of meat, covered in whatever sauce you want. Get a Valpolicella and Bob's yer Uncle.

Hmm... there is a distinction between a "big steak" and a "good steak", surely.

This is a problem I've come across a lot when eating out in Sheffield - people seem to think that a meal is only any good when there's a lot of it, which really shouldn't be the case. For example, at Chez Lahlou's I was served far more food than could be safely eaten by one person, but it was the worst attempt at "French" cooking I've ever tasted. By contrast, I've eaten at many restaurants in London and Manchester where the amount on your plate doesn't look a lot, but the ingredients and cooking have been of noticeably better quality and I've never left feeling hungry.

Quantity does not equal quality.

BB's on Division St (between the Forum and Halcyon bars).
Melt in your mouth steaks and gorgeous sauces.

What is it with BB's and this forum? Every time food of any description is mentioned in a thread people are falling over themselves to praise this pretty mediocre if happy-go-lucky little Italian restaurant!

Got to agree about Froggie's though. It's a real restaurant, that's for sure – get a steak there and you won't be disappointed.

dansumption you are totally right the bigger the steak not always the right way to go - i personally think that if the steak is thin but coveres a lot of the plate it will never be as good as a thick steak as they can be cooked better(i like mine medium rare). As for BB's yes i agree they do a very good steak but rossi's still gets my vote at present(after trying all these steaks i will give everyone my honest opinion well thats if i have not put on loads of weight and can leave the house)

Try Kumkwat Mae on London Road. Or the Blue Moon cafe near the Cathedral.

Tee hee.... Friday afternoon boredom strikes again!

Nah I keep getting tempted but everytime I go in there I order a combo platter as it's the biggest thing on the menu and then get back to playing hangman on the table with the free crayons. I was in there Wednesday thinking about it :)
