Champions League quarter-final draw:

1 Arsenal v Liverpool
2 AS Roma v Man Utd
3 Schalke 04 v FC Barcelona
4 Fenerbahce v Chelsea

Champions League semi-final draw:

1 Arsenal/Liverpool v Fenerbahce/Chelsea
2 Schalke/Barcelona v AS Roma/Man Utd

I'm going for Arsenal v Chelsea and Barca v Man Utd for the semis.

I'd agree with that and Man U and Arsenal for the final in the Russia.

I think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone who would disagree with those predictions, with only Liverpool potentially causing an upset I'd say.

Roma are playing well at the moment but I think Manchester United have too much for them, on any day.

Arsenal have to be favourites, I mean, you lot go on about how far ahead of us they are in the Premiership, it is a forgone conclusion is'nt it?

Or could Liverpool get lucky again and actually win this tie?

:hihi:

Liverpool v Chelsea semi again for me, and that is not me being biased. I just think Liverpool will beat Arsenal. For the record, I also think we would beat Chelsea in the Semi's!

If we ended up playing Utd in the final, that is where I feel our run would end!

And the reason for that is because Liverpool are lucky and that whenever anyone plays them, the opposing side seems to turn into a second division team! All the experts and pundits and fans and radio stations and TV programmes and ex players and ex managers and current players and current managers, are all wrong in their opinions that Liverpool are the team to avoid and that they could actually go on to win the Champions League!

It's the people on this forum that you need to listen too, who constently, year after year, round after round, game after game, get it wrong about Liverpool, that you need to listen to my mate!

Yes Pool have done better than the 3 above them in the League in Europe but in my opinion the reason for that is that Liverpool have been so far Behind the top 3 in the Premiership (and they have) that the Champions League Trophy is the next best thing
I aint a scouser and dont know many but i guarantee that if there was a survey most Pool fans would pick Premiership Trophy over Champions League
Fair enuff they have done brilliant in Europe but the bread and butter is Premiership ans they are a long way off it despite the money they have spent

Chelsea have most English players in thier squad but usually come 2nd best, strange isn't it? ...Or is it.
Paul, I'm shocked you fear United. They are not that unbeatable. Chelsea have both United and Arsenal to play at home in Prem and that is when the Prem will be decided.
I know only a few on here are interested but I fancy Rangers to meet Bayern in final of UEFA Cup. Just hope Bolton haven't slipped up with fielding a "weak" side last week and then lose to Wigan on Sunday. They could end up very badly this season.

Every day of the week! And your point is?
This thread is about who will progress in the Champions League, not which team has performed the best in the Premiership. Nor is it about which trophy a Liverpool fan would rather win! The answer to that is obvious.

Paul, I'm shocked you fear United. They are not that unbeatable.
I don't fear them in a way that I think Liverpool can't match them in a one-off game mate! It's just that no-matter how well Liverpool play against United (played them off the park last two games at Anfield), they always seem to sneak that winning goal! It's becoming a trend that doesn't seem to be coming to an end. Maybe it will if they meet in the final, who knows. After all, this is the Champions League and not the Premiership and let's face it, Liverpool do know how to win in this competition, unlike the rest!

Think you're right- Chelsea did not play very well against Fenerbeche and were lucky to get through- I know results matter at the end of day, but on last nights play, if you compared Chelsea game with that of Liverpool's, I see Liverpool going through.

Arsenal started so strongly I thought Liverpool were in for a drubbing. Good work by Liverpool for keeping them under wraps though, not convinced it was a penalty but Arsenal had plenty of chances to kill the game. Wenger is bleating about poor decisions on the BBC site, but really it's poor finishing and failing to deal with Liverpool counters that cost them.

Liverpool v Chelsea for the 4th season running.... I expect Liverpool to win that one.

A shame for the neutral football purist. I watched the game on TV and found it a fascinating contrast between Arsenal's intelligent short passing game and Liverpool's long ball, but as one who values entertainment as highly as winning, the wrong team won. Hoofing it long for Crouch to knock down for Torres to shoot, might work occasionally but after a bit it's very dull to watch.
The only "big" team who play less exciting football than Liverpool is of course Chelsea, so get set for another tedious 2-legged semi which is guaranteed to be 0-0 in the first game and 1-0 due to a dodgy decision or penalty in the return leg!

Everyone is assuming a Barca v Man Utd semi but I have a sneaky feeling Shalke will do the business tonight.
Chelsea to finally overcome the Anfield Jinx as long as Avram doesn't change the shape too much. Can't figure that Belleti for Kalou substitution. that's the second time, I think, he's done that. Why doesn't he just start Essien in the middle? Mind you he won't have that problem in 1st leg as Essien is yellow carded so Malouda should start.
Bye the way, Frank, start packing your bags as you are not worth the pay rise you want!!

Best team won overall cos pool drew at emirates and Arsenal couldnt cope with atmosphere at Anfield

I have to agree mate!
Not sure about Barca, I think Liverpool have the beating of the big foriegn teams, but Utd are a different kettle of fish and with the way they are playing atm, it would take a mammoth performance to triumph over them!

I think so too. Too many times these two have produced some really dull games and I was hoping Liverpool or Arsenal would meet Fenebeche. But with Torres on board, they have been more entertaining and lets hope they carry it on. I think Torres is worthy of the cost of ticket alone.(though many times Iget them for free as I happen to have a cousin in senior role at Heineken).

Have you actually watched Barca this season? They've been very poor, and it's testament to the poor standard of La Liga at the moment that they have managed to keep in 3nd place. Real Madrid have been beaten 9 times in 2008, yet still have a 7 point lead over Villareal and Barca. They aren't the entertainers they were 2 years ago.
