However, as I hate to keep reminding you, Hereford United knocked Leeds out of the FA Cup last season, so by your logic, Hereford United are the best team in the world.

Don't be so delusional Basil.

No, it's in Wales. But the club that plays there (who were non-league only 3 years ago) will next season be competing in the same division as the once-mighty Leeds United.

Why is that arrogant. We could beat any team in the world on current form. Barca, Man Utd, AC Milan. We are on a par now, if not better. None of those teams could have turned the 15 point defecit round like us.

I have posted as a Leed Utd fan here for ages. I am a real fan, and go to Elland Rd about 10 times a year. I also make sure to catch as many away games as possible.

Do you honestly think that Barca could have turned round the 15 point defecit in League One? If you do then you are truely unintelligent.

He's got a point; I doubt whether Barcelona could have got anything from Cheltenham Town and I think Real Madrid would have had a fight to overcome Port Vale at the Nou Camp. And does anyone seriously think Juventus would nick three points at Crewe Alexandra?

Strictly speaking doesn't "turning around" a 15 point deficit merely involve getting to +15? In which case we did.

My 'translation' of his post was overturning the -15 point start, and THEN achieving targets - promotion in this case.

If overturning a -15 start was simply to achieve reaching +15, then I think it's fair to say that I'm sure the teams he quotes - Man U, Barca etc. would have achieved that.

Either way, he looks a bit of a numpty.

By the way. Juventus were relegated to the second tier of Italian football (still higher than League 1 relatively speaking) for the 2006/7 season, with a 9 point deduction.

They won the league as champions. 6 points clear of the second place with a vastly superior goal difference.

So even if they'd had 15 points deducted like Leeds, they would have still been champions of their second tier.

So next time you come out with your irrelevant crap that no one could have achieved what Leeds did, try looking up the facts first.

plekhanov

I don't think he can handle things like 'facts' anymore, losing to Doncaster and facing yet another season of comedic failure in the 3rd tier has clearly been too much for what was already a seriously addled mind and he's completely lost it.

Anyway on the subject of overcoming deficits when Roy Keane took over Sunderland they had an effective 15 point penalty after Quinn led them to 5 straigh defeats and Keane led Sunderland to win the Championship, are you going to tell us that league 1 is harder than the Championship now?

Much as I hate to keep bringing this thread back, as a Hereford United fan, I can't let my team's latest win over the once mighty Leeds United last night pass without comment.

Less than 8 years ago, while Leeds were cheating battling their way through to the semi-finals of the Champions League, Hereford were a non-league club in dire financial straits and being beaten by the likes of Barrow, Leek Town and Leigh RMI. Not only are we now playing Leeds at the same level but we've played them 4 times in the last year and a bit, beaten them twice and kept three clean sheets!

As the match report from the Yorkshire Post shows (http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/leedsunited/Leeds-United-Fans39-patience-finally.4990320.jp), last night's result was the last straw for the few remaining Leeds fans, who were reduced to chanting "We're **** and we're sick of it" at the end of the game. If you'd like even more of a giggle, why not visit the Leeds United forum? As the language is rather fruity I won't link to it directly but if you type "WACCOE" into your favourite search engine, you'll get there.

How much lower can they sink? :hihi:

There is no limit to how low we can sink. By all accounts you were much the better team, congratulations on the win. A couple of weeks ago after a short good run when we were two points off the playoff zone with two games in hand I thought things were going to start going well again. Now we're five points off on level games and losing to teams in the relegation zone and it's going from bad to worse again. To call it embarrassing is an understatement, but I'm not going to try make excuses, there aren't any.

It's a proud day for all true football fans as we look at the league tables and see Leeds United stuck in the lower divisions for yet another season, and few could doubt that they richly deserve it. And with much stronger teams coming down from the Championship this year in Norwich, Southampton and Charlton, it'll be much more difficult for them to get back.

With a bit of luck Leeds may even be facing a relegation battle next season as what few decent players they've got leave and fans boycott the club in protest at having to pay £25-30 to watch third tier football.

Last night they were dreaming of going to the likes of Newcastle, Boro and the two Sheffield clubs next season. This morning they know instead they'll be visiting the likes of Brentford, Wycombe and Exeter. Ho ho!

Whilst I don't want to deny you your opportunity to gloat, and you must be loving it, surely any non-Leeds obsessed fan can see that the only club more loathsome and dirty than my own is Millwall? Not wishing to be a sore loser, but I really hope the winner of tonight's semi-final batters them at Wembley. I was held up outside the ground by police so their fans could be escorted into the stadium by many police on horseback, as their fans attempted to break through the barriers to start fights (860 of them vs 37,000 of us, clearly a bit over-confident!). I've never seen such a set of thugs in my life. They make the worst of our fans look like angels.

On the pitch they were worse. A booking that should've been a red within 20 seconds. Once they got their goal, their keeper took over a minute to take every single goal kick, I was surprised the fans behind the goal didn't run on to take it for him. It was also the only game I've been to where a player who wasn't playing was booked. In injury time the ball went out for a Leeds throw-in by the bench. A Millwall sub picked up the ball and held it for a good 20 seconds before throwing it to the screaming Leeds player. I've never witnessed a Leeds player (or any other player for that matter) show such disregard for sportsmanship.

Last night we were clearly the better team, we passed around well but at times gave the ball away too easily, too many players showed a complete lack of commitment (Beckford was a lazy disgrace, only Snodgrass, Robinson and Becchio actually looked like they wanted to win the match) and despite plenty of decent possession in midfield we created very few decent chances. That said, we were so bad in the away leg on Saturday that I think on the whole they were the better team over two legs and deserved to go through. Had it been any other team, I would have taken defeat gracefully. I don't mind losing to the better team, I didn't mind losing to Doncaster last year when they beat us fairly and were much better than us. But I was so incensed by the behaviour of both their fans and players that it's hard not to feel a bit bitter.

Next year will be hard, there are some big teams joining us, and we'll be losing Beckford and Delph no doubt (although if they play anything like they did last night then it won't be a big loss), but I'm trying to remain positive. It's Grayson's first full season in charge, and he's done great things (if we'd had the points/games ratio we've had since Grayson took over across the whole season we'd have finished 1st). I'm just hoping we can keep hold of Sam Sodje, who's been brilliant for us and the reason we didn't lose by more on Saturday.

Hopefully this will finally get some of our more deluded fans (no names mentioned) into the realisation that we are now a League 1 club. This isn't a temporary blip, we've had two attempts to get out of it now and shown twice that we're not up to the job. We might have the best stadium and the best support, but without the best players and the best team that doesn't really count for much. For all Beckford's talent, he doesn't look like he cares. We will fare better with a team of people who want to win than a team full of skillful egos. It's like Berbatov and Tevez at Man Utd (only a bit less good). Berbatov is obviously the better footballer, but he's lazy and does nothing unless everyone else does the hard work for him, and the fans hate him. Tevez is technically one of Man Utd's least able players, but he makes up for it by playing every game like his life depends on it and the fans love him and it gets the other players going as well. If we get rid of the egos, make some solid signings and regroup we can make a decent go of it next season.

Ho ho!
hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi:

Well its enough to bring tears to a glass eye isnt it. I laughed so much last night at those poor unfortunates, some of whom pay over £600 for the misfortunate of watching them. And dont forget there is also Harry and Christa on look leeds tonight we can watch and see if they have black armbands on

Santa Claus was on Sky Sports News earlier and proudly stated that "Leeds are going places". It's not often that I agree with him, but I do here. They are indeed "going places".

Wycombe, Exeter, Yeovil .....

Apart from Leeds, the third division for next season does have a look of 3rd division south about it, doesn' it!

And the fourth; fourth division, north!

I didn't really want to swap Charlton away, for Millwall away next year though!

I think Leeds about bottomed out at Histon just before Christmas.
That's a tough act to follow!

Only 37,000 in a major city with only one team? :o

At least that's six points each for Norwich, Southampton and Charlton.

I think Millwall did the world of football a massive favour last night. Lets just hope Leeds misfortune carries on for many years to come

If they get promoted and you have the joy of playing them next year, you'll be really wishing we'd won that game :)

Love from,

A depressed but surprisingly optimistic and philosophical Leeds fan.

Good honest post, but in all fairness if you had have come up you would have struggled, if the only players you can talk about are Delph who by the way looked a shambles, Robinson who is no where near Championship quality, and Beckford well you said it all, then like i say hard time's, your manager aint that good either, Di Matteo sound's a better manager and he couldn't do owt either tonight, when all is said and done the two big time charlies got shown up in the last 2 nights, Big Leeds and Fake Mk Dons.
Good luck to Millwall, another excuse for an away trip to London next season.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Scunny can still win ;) I must say though, fair play for coming on here and being so honest and clear about a club you love.

Fans like you who will take the rough with the smooth, and will stick your heads above the parapet and take the stick (we've all had to do it) are the real reason why the sport still exists.

Good on yer!

We would've struggled greatly. Delph is great when he wants to be, as is Beckford, but they were hopeless, the pair of them were disgraceful over both legs, and Delph was very lucky not to be sent off in the first leg for that terrible challenge. I think Grayson's proved himself as well as he can in his brief managerial career. He's only 39, and has taken a Blackpool side to promotion, and taken us from 10th and looking like no-hopers to 4th with an incredible 12 straight home wins in a few months in charge. But we really wouldn't have stood a chance in the Championship without much better players. We're far too reliant on a handful of key players, who will surely be gone by next season. Hopefully we can use this time to develop a solid, able squad without the prima donnas that can give us the foundation for playing in the Championship.

Likewise yourself. I try to come on here and take justified criticism and a bit of banter, and that's fine. I get a bit sick of still getting abuse from people even when I'm putting my team down, just makes people seem a bit pathetic. It's nice when I get a reasonable response from someone who realises I'm just trying to stick up for my team, not abusing anyone else's team or bigging us up, just telling it as it is. I'm not trying to delude myself or anyone, just trying to accept what we are and being realistic as to what we can achieve.

You could get on at Doncaster!

In fact at a low price, some Blades might be interested in going down a day earlier, not using the return portion of this, and booking tickets back some other time!
