View Full Version : There's Just Something About Liverpool In Europe! LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 21:12 Come on guys, credit where it's due hey? Agent Gypo 11-03-2008, 21:18 I'm surprised. Inter Milan were dire in the first leg, though lets not forget they were a man down early on. But this game.....there's been no urgency about them at all, even before the sending off. And can Patrick Viera possibly play any worse? Amazing how a side can be so poor against Barnsley, yet breeze by Inter Milan across two legs. LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 21:25 I'm surprised. And so again, no credit to Liverpool? It's becoming a regular thing really. Liverpool beat the best and it's either Luck, or the other team being so poor. Oh well, I said all along we had a chance, when others (including Preachermans dad) wrote us off. Good stuff Liverpool, love ya forever!! Oh well, I said all along we had a chance, when others (including Preachermans dad) wrote us off. Good stuff Liverpool, love ya forever!! I thought Inter Milan would beat you across two legs. But don't kid yourself, they are far from the best side in Europe. Liverpool hardly set the world on fire in the first leg, despite playing against 10 men for most of the game. I've watched both legs and Inter have been truly awful in both of them. Even as a Liverpool fan you must admit you've had a helping hand from poor refereeing, in both games! LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 21:34 I thought Inter Milan would beat you across two legs. But don't kid yourself, they are far from the best side in Europe. Even as a Liverpool fan you must admit you've had a helping hand from poor refereeing, in both games! Whatever Gypo. Who is the best side in Europe by the way? Because over the last three years, we have near enough beat the lot! The INTER fans are even cheering us at the end, surely that says something yeah? Ivor&Mel 11-03-2008, 21:41 Inter started with no Italian players in their lineup... You've just beaten the Arsenal of Italy :D Great result for Liverpool, and another great goal from Torres. Can't believe that Inter are the leaders of Serie A after their performance over the 2 legs... Agent Gypo 11-03-2008, 21:42 Whatever Gypo. Who is the best side in Europe by the way? Because over the last three years, we have near enough beat the lot! The INTER fans are even cheering us at the end, surely that says something yeah? Best side in Europe at the moment? For me, Man Utd and Arsenal are the pick of the teams still in the Champions League: Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool Man Utd Shalke Roma Barcelona Fenerbahce That said, I liked the look of Roma against Real Madrid. Agent Gypo 11-03-2008, 21:46 Can't believe that Inter are the leaders of Serie A after their performance over the 2 legs... This is my point. That was not the same Inter Milan that has only lost 2 games in Serie A in the last two seasons. NEKRO138 11-03-2008, 21:49 Absolutely, credit to Liverpool. But I have to agree that Inter did not look like Serie A league toppers. JFKvsNixon 11-03-2008, 21:51 Come on guys, credit where it's due hey? Well done good result for yer, don't get carried away though. I am happy, 4 teams in the 1/4 finals. Lets hope we can all avoid each other and have an all English semi final. LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 21:51 This is my point. That was not the same Inter Milan that has only lost 2 games in Serie A in the last two seasons. FFS can't you see, Liverpool made them look ordinary. It's no fluke that Liverpool consistently Knock out the best teams in Europe! You may hate to do so but just admit, Liverpool in Europe are one of the best. Nobody want's to play us and with good reason. Again i'll ask, credit where it is due fellas! Ivor&Mel 11-03-2008, 21:51 Best side in Europe at the moment? For me, Man Utd and Arsenal are the pick of the teams still in the Champions League: Arsenal Chelsea Liverpool Man Utd Shalke Roma Barcelona Fenerbahce That said, I liked the look of Roma against Real Madrid. I think that Roma are indeed a big threat, and could go all the way. Is this the first time that 4 clubs from the same country have got this far? Wonder what the odds are that all 4 will be drawn against each other? Or am I just being cynical...? LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 21:53 Well done good result for yer, don't get carried away though. I am happy, 4 teams in the 1/4 finals. Lets hope we can all avoid each other and have an all English semi final. I'll vouch for that mate! Hope we get Chelsea though :hihi: For obvious reason's :D JFKvsNixon 11-03-2008, 21:56 I'll vouch for that mate! Hope we get Chelsea though :hihi: For obvious reason's :D I wouldn't mind drawing you as well, infact I'd rather play you than Inter. Of all the teams that has got through I would rather play you than Arsenal, Man Utd, Barcelona, Roma. In the ideal we would meet you in the final though, remember the final is in Moscow. LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 21:59 I wouldn't mind drawing you as well, infact I'd rather play you than Inter. Of all the teams that has got through I would rather play you than Arsenal, Man Utd, Barcelona, Roma. In the ideal we would meet you in the final though, remember the final is in Moscow. Yeah, and Abramovich is a wanted man in Moscow :D See ya next round mate! Agent Gypo 11-03-2008, 22:00 FFS can't you see, Liverpool made them look ordinary. The game ceased to be a contest when Materazzi was sent off early doors for nothing. Inter were never going to do much after being a man down at Anfield for over an hour. Even then, it took two late goals to kill the tie... I expected more of Inter in the second leg but again, 45 minutes with 10 men and needing 2 (and later 3) goals..... no chance. You played 180 minutes against a side reduced to 10 men for over 100... JFKvsNixon 11-03-2008, 22:03 Yeah, and Abramovich is a wanted man in Moscow :D See ya next round mate! Hardly, he is a governer of a regien in Siberia so he has to go to Moscow from time to time; also he is liked by Putin. Remember that if you play us in the final. LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 22:05 Hardly, he is a governer of a regien in Siberia so he has to go to Moscow from time to time; also he is liked by Putin. Remember that if you play us in the final. Oh I will! Hardly a fair venue then if Chelski get to the final is it Nixon? :suspect: LFCMadPaul 11-03-2008, 22:06 The game ceased to be a contest when Materazzi was sent off early doors for nothing. Must be yet another fluke then Gypo  Agent Gypo 11-03-2008, 22:11 Must be yet another fluke then Gypo  It wasn't a fluke. Liverpool outplayed a very poor Inter Milan side reduced to 10 men, after struggling through the group stage. Far sterner tests await.... well, unless you get Fenerbahce..! Heyesey 11-03-2008, 22:17 It wasn't a fluke. Liverpool outplayed a very poor Inter Milan side reduced to 10 men If that's true, then it is a fluke. The odds against Inter playing their two worst matches of the season by far, in the two games against Liverpool, are incredibly long. Were they scared? Does Liverpool's track record in Europe put teams a goal down before they start? Is it just bizarre coincidence? Or are Liverpool actually stopping these teams from playing as well as they usually do? Agent Gypo 11-03-2008, 22:23 The very best sides in the world would struggle against any team if they had to play 100 minutes of a 2-leg tie with 10 men! LFCMadPaul 12-03-2008, 00:45 The very best sides in the world would struggle against any team if they had to play 100 minutes of a 2-leg tie with 10 men! Chelsea (twice), Juventus, Barcelona and AC Milan, all had 11 men throughout their encounters with Liverpool in previous ties! All the above teams can be considered amongst the very best teams in Europe. What excuse do you have for all of Liverpool's victories against the above? JFKvsNixon 12-03-2008, 01:34 Chelsea (twice), Juventus, Barcelona and AC Milan, all had 11 men throughout their encounters with Liverpool in previous ties! All the above teams can be considered amongst the very best teams in Europe. What excuse do you have for all of Liverpool's victories against the above? Why thanks for considering as amongst the top teams. briggy1967 12-03-2008, 06:04 FFS can't you see, Liverpool made them look ordinary. Crackin result for you tonight Paul But if you Draw any of the English Teams in the Quarters (and is a damn good chance u will) i can see the Scousers sayin Bon Voyage to last chance of a trophy Man Utd all the way for me Agent Gypo 12-03-2008, 09:38 Chelsea (twice), Juventus, Barcelona and AC Milan, all had 11 men throughout their encounters with Liverpool in previous ties! All the above teams can be considered amongst the very best teams in Europe. What excuse do you have for all of Liverpool's victories against the above? None, though I'm talking about results from seasons gone by am I? And in case you forgot, last time you played AC Milan they beat you. No matter how you put it, you can't say that you played a top class Inter Milan side this season. I've seen League Two teams perform with more heart. Heyesey 12-03-2008, 11:49 But if you Draw any of the English Teams in the Quarters (and is a damn good chance u will) i can see the Scousers sayin Bon Voyage to last chance of a trophy I'm getting deja vu ... that's what everybody said about if they drew Chelsea in the semis in 2005. And said again, in 2007. Anybody can beat anybody in a two-leg game. Liverpool have been proving that fairly consistently in the last three years. It takes an all-play-all league to show which teams are really the best. scottf 12-03-2008, 11:56 Well done in beating them- i had my doubts but they dug in. Although if liverpool are the best in europe (as you claim) why are they 5th in the english premiership? LFCMadPaul 12-03-2008, 18:14 Although if liverpool are the best in europe (as you claim) why are they 5th in the english premiership? And where have I claimed that Liverpool are the best in Europe? Liverpool are 4th by the way! LFCMadPaul 12-03-2008, 18:18 No matter how you put it, you can't say that you played a top class Inter Milan side this season. I've seen League Two teams perform with more heart. Here we go again. Had Manchester Utd, Arsenal or even Chelsea dispatched of Inter Milan 3 - 0, everyone would be raving about how good they were and how they had totally nullified the Milan team from playing. When Liverpool do it, it's because Inter are about as much good as a second division side. Didn't Inter want to win or something? Or was it that they just couldn't get a look in? LFCMadPaul 12-03-2008, 18:19 But if you Draw any of the English Teams in the Quarters (and is a damn good chance u will) i can see the Scousers sayin Bon Voyage to last chance of a trophy You said that when we drew Inter! Heard it all before mate! Agent Gypo 12-03-2008, 20:50 Here we go again. When Liverpool do it, it's because Inter are about as much good as a second division side. Didn't Inter want to win or something? Or was it that they just couldn't get a look in? I wasn't referring to Liverpool with the League Two thing, I was trying to point out that that's what Inter played like. I would be doing exactly the same if it was Man Utd or Arsenal. More so with Arsenal as I can't stand Wenger. But I watched both legs of the game and the fact is that Liverpool didn't play that well in either. But they didn't have to, since Inter played the majority of the tie with 10 men! LFCMadPaul 13-03-2008, 12:22 I wasn't referring to Liverpool with the League Two thing, I was trying to point out that that's what Inter played like. Liverpool are through because they deserve to be and nothing you nor anyone says will change that! Hope we draw Chelsea in the next round to be honest. Wonder what the excuses will be when we knock them out? scottf 13-03-2008, 12:55 And where have I claimed that Liverpool are the best in Europe? Liverpool are 4th by the way! but just admit, Liverpool in Europe are one of the best. Nobody want's to play us and with good reason. ???????????? LFCMadPaul 13-03-2008, 17:31 ???????????? It's not difficult. Domestically, Liverpool are not really challenging the top three as they should be, although their form has picked up remarkably lately. In European competition however, Liverpool have to be considered as one of the best, which is what their record suggests! |
