View Full Version : Where is the private night club on the outskirts of the city centre?
i can't say where but if you've been you'll know where i mean.......its open all night and free to get in,there's no licenced bar but....................on entry you buy raffle tickets and everyones a winner..each ticket costs five quid and will win you 4 cans of grolch......i'd say the music is progressive house..anyone been?
btw i'm told the raffle ticket thing is not ileagal so there is no laws being broken
Agent Gypo 09-03-2005, 15:25 Not heard of this, where is it? Pm me if you want.
carcrash 09-03-2005, 15:40 PM me as well. Sound like spannereds sort of place.
sounds interesting- PM me too please :D
DaBouncer 09-03-2005, 15:56 Go on then I'll jump on the bandwagon and say PM me too.
Regarding legalities, if the place is a public house (or being used by the public for commercial reasons) I'd think that an ON licence is required for the consumption of said alcohol on the premises.
Not 100% sure, but that's what I would have thought.
Carl_Malibu 10-03-2005, 10:39 I'd quite like you to PM me with regards to this.
If its a private members club how do you get in?
I don't want a PM:thumbsup:
PM me please - sounds great!

Just a couple of queries from someone who isn't sure of the legalities surrounding these things:
1. Don't you still need a license if alcohol is consumed on the premises?
2. Don't you need a gaming license if you are going to hold a raffle?
3. If the place is private, is it insured / assessed for fire exits etc?
tinajones 10-03-2005, 13:32 I'd like a PM please!
thanks!!!
I used to go to lots of "parties" in London where you paid £25 for a ticket to get in and the drink was free all night, so they wern't actually selling it on the premises.
sparklesista 10-03-2005, 14:51 Illegal or not - I'm game ;)
the reason i started this thread is because i wanted someone who knows where it is,i went off mi trolly and can't remember where it is....ive lost touch with the person i went with (he knew the owner) in in an industrial part of town and it was very well hidden..i aint got a prayer of finding it again without a bit of help.....
was it underground, physical location, not type of place.
rubydazzler 10-03-2005, 16:50 it looks like there's already quite a few people interested .... why not just start your own private club ..... :D

MOD: Thread title changed to something more descriptive - it appears that kirky doesn't know where it is either and is looking for help.
sparklesista 10-03-2005, 17:44 Maybe we should start a private club for forum members :D

Who cares wether it's legal or not, the law do so many stupid things, so why are they right!
I used to go to illegal booze selling crack houses, blues bars, so what, it's no big deal! maybe it's a cj's type of place on broomhall or up Pitsmoor. Just don't get stabbed in the bogs!

I know i had a solicitor look into this a while back in relation to selling drinks after hours but can't remember the exact conclusion we reached. It's one of the grey areas in the law as it's down to interpretation of the wording but i think if challenged, it would probably be considered illegal. I'll have to look into it further but i remember it being a way i rejected for bypassing the usual licence laws.

Hmmmm... if only there was another way to get a drink after hours..... what's that link down there...?:P

Errr, haven't you kind of answered your own question about why "they" are right? :|
