I'm logging on to www.beer-devon.co.uk and selecting from the menu on the left hand side. Topics such as exiles or smuggling and I get transferred to the next relevant page. If I carry on down the menu and select 'view guest book' the next page flashes briefly on screen and disappears. If I then exit the web site, click top right X
and select 'close all tabs' the page I wanted to select is there. I would love to know why it doesn't appear on screen when I originally asked for it, and appears just when I'm about to log off. If any of you are computer whiz kids, perhaps you could log on to the above web site, see for youself and solve the mystery. Much appreciated if you could.

I've just had a look, and all the pages display without a problem.

Looks like it's something at your end:(

Guess you're right. I'll call in at the shop I deal with later and get their advice. Dont want to lug the thing back to the shop if I can help it. Thanks for looking.

Guy at the computer shop reckoned I'd got a corrupted Internet Explorer. Recommended downloading the latest one from Microsoft which I did but its made no difference. I can live with it for a while but suppose I'll have to let the professionals fix it for a fee.

Nah just download Firefox or Opera. Completely free alternative browsers. Both have their benefits, both have their fanboys.

Pick one & google it.

Got Opera. Cost 3 x £2 txts to download. Got the icon so double click and choose to use it but no meaningful page with instructions appears. I shall keep trying. Meanwhile, I'm back on Explorer which is getting more naff by the minute.

http://www.opera.com/download/

It won't let me see Windows versions coz I'm not on it, but isn't it free?

No need to do a google and search for firefox or opera, the URLs are dead easy to remember...
www.firefox.com and www.opera.com

Both definitely free mikeG - don't know what you found through Googling! :(

Back to the OP though... the guestbook opens in a new window. mikeG, are you sure it isn't just getting put behind your other browser window(s) automatically? That's what it sounds like.

I stupidly googled 'opera' and got www.operasoft.info/uk/ and thought that was where to download from. WRONG. Had to txt PR33 to 88889 three times to receive an activation code of PSR35. At £2 per txt. We live and learn. At least its a warning to others who are a bit thick like me. I may try again. And my wife wonders why, whilst she's out at work, I never seem to get the time to do gardening, housework etc.

I've done what you and moonlight suggested. Downloaded OK and back to the Beer website the desired pages come up right away. They can't hide from me any more. Thanks
