I have an AIWA stereo, a little bit old now but it has sentimental value. It has a triple CD system which isn't working at the moment because the laser is a little poorly.
Does anyone know a respectable and reasonably priced person who could check it over and repair it.
Am fed up of being conned and scammed in the past by service centres.
Thanking you for your time and honesty.
Hutch
i really wouldnt bother.... you could pick up another 2nd hand for only a little more than someone would charge you.
failing that...there is a tech at moorgate acoustics (not far from bottom of the moor, near corporation rock club...cant remember address) should be easy enough to find there address
I don't know whereabouts you are, but I use the bloke on Beighton Rd, Woodhouse. He seems to know what he's doing, and his shop always looks as though he's busy, which is a good sign
There's a peculiar little place on London Road, next to where The Charnwood was. I don;t recall there being a name above the shop but it's dull in there and if you go in there's a chap surrounded by a fug of cig smoke.
He apparently can fix almost anything electrical. Generally cheaply. I've never taken anything there but friends have.
It's as cheap as it gets, maybe you could go for it, or trust you Aiwa in the hands of people who cannot work in fumes according to company policy. :)

I have an AIWA whose CD lens has gone a bit weak too... anybody else noticing a trend here? :? lol I just converted all my CD's to high quality Ogg vorbis audio files... connect my PC to AUX IN and I'm a happy bunny, don't have to use my CD drawer now...
mines an AIWA NSX777... its gotta be at least 5 years old I rekon, but still sounds ace :)
[edit]
Mine wont play any CD-R's anymore, and it struggles with 95% of CD's with video files on too, those ones with extra stuff for your PC! which unfortunatly includes all my Iron Maiden CD's :( and it randomly plays normal CD's when it likes!
