I have always wanted to do this job as well !!!

I think patience, time, organisation and commitment would be the most important things to start with, aong with contacts in hire companies, florists, bridal wear makers...God I am exhausted thinking about it haha

If you are not sure what it entails then how could you possibly 'love' to do this?

Well, some people require more doing than others, and I'm not sure what kind of experience people would expect. No need for being nasty about it

I'd 'love' to train as a veterinary nurse but until I've done my work experience I won't know exactly what it entails.

I guess it's the idea people love.

I have been watching wedding tv again and it seems to me that everyone uses wedding planners these days.

Are they really expensive and what exactly do they do guys ?

i'd love one because basically i dont have a clue where to begin, let alone the legal stuff like giving notice ect! i cant afford one though cos my budget is basically cheap as chips! maybe i should find someone who loves planning weddings to do it for me, then i could give a reference if they want a future career as it lol!

I have often thought about doing it but wouldnt want to let anyone down and quite frankly wouldnt know where to start, I think you would need alot of contacts in the business etc.

Ill bet they are pricey but I still dont get what they do...

It's not that hard guys!
1)All the legal stuff, (reading of the banns/ giving notice, proving you are elligable for marriage/ are brittish/ Do know each other etc! ) you go through with the registra (town hall.)
2)If you choose to get married at the registry office, its all pretty straight forward, and perfectly lovely! (choose an available date) If you choose a religious ceremony then you obviously contact said religious person/ figurehead to see if you can be fitted in to your required day/ month/ year!
If you require a specific venue you obviously contact them to make sure that they have a licence and the required date is free.
3)Wedding dress, wedding dress, wedding dress! Oh! make sure he has something to wear also! and flowers, cars, brides maids(if any) hen party/ stag do...............
4)Organise a massive F**** off party! As formal or informal as you like/ can afford. Sometimes the best ones are when everyone just bring their own and has a massive party/ knees up. Maybe you want a more formal meal etc? Decide on your venue and ask them to plan and deliver the event to your requirements/ budget. (At a decent venue, they will act as the wedding planners for the evening do, saving you so much hassel and money)
Actually, you are right, it is a pain in the a***!
Good luck!

thats my worry at the mo, the blooming party! every venue i looked at want you to have a big formal meal ect, i dont want that! but if you dont have the 'wedding breakfast' they treat you like you're wierd then charge you double / triple for the room ect grr

I've found one out in the peak district but i think it'll be a reg office wedding so i dont want to travel miles for a reception!

We are using one purely because we're getting married in Hawaii IN TWO MONTHS!!!!
Getting the marriage licence and arranging the ceremony is always harder in a foreign country so we've found a helpful bloke on the net who has been doing it for years and is also a wedding photographer so we're going with him. We've spoken to him by phone and communicated by email and he seems fine. I can't remember offhand what he's charging - about £4-500 for photography and for doing the arrangements I think.

I Was A Wedding Planner For A While But Now Have My Own Venue/bar. I Think I Was Of Most Use As A Planner For Big Weddings(15k +) As They Were Logistically Bigger . If It Is A Less Monied Affair You May Be Paying For A Planner When The Venue Of Your Choice Can Already Fulfil Most Of That Role. I Guess It Depends How Much Time And Input You Want. For Me The Best Celebrations Are Ones Which Reflect The Couple And So A Bit Of Work In Advance From Yourselves Can Create That Special Occasion Thats Really Personal

Having recently qualified as a wedding planner, I can say that it costs around 10-15% of the cost of your wedding in order to hire a wedding planner. Around 100 hours of work goes into planning a wedding and if anything goes wrong you normally a have a fall back in your contract with the organiser.

Wedding planners can be of great use when organising a wedding to a budget or in a short space of time. As a recently qualified wedding consultant I can say that having an excellent local knowledge of the area you want to get married in is essential and this is where a wedding planner can help!

I have recently qualified as a wedding planner but entering the industry is not easy!

I think in the UK the idea is slowly taking off one thing you might consider doing is help on the day, the whole peace of mind thing seems to sell pretty well these days, even if brides dont want help choosing everything else.

eveyone keeps asking about a wedding planner etc...some of you say its because you dont know where to start etc, others say you just need to know someone in the business etc...i run a balloon company and also a mobile wedding hair and make up service and have been in the industry for years and have a lot of contacts ...if you are worried about money hiring a wedding planner etc i am more than happy to pass on numbers of people who we use on a regular basis i.e florists, photographers, cakes, balloons, chair covers, stationers, favours, bands, caterers, magicians, childrens entertainers, hairdressers, make up artists etc...pm me with what you are looking for and i will pass on their details to you and it wont cost a thing!

I used a wedding planner and I'm so glad I did as we had quite a few last minute problems that I would have struggled to sort on my own!

Im in the wedding business and know 3 wedding planners.
They all love there jobs and the people they meet.
HOWEVER, they are the most stressed out people i know (trust me thats saying something lol). The pressure there under to make sure everything goes ok is imense. I mean if you paid someone over a grand to make sure your day went ok, and it went wrong you would kick of im sure so they have no room for errors.

Also as other person said you need loads and i mean loads of contacts to get into this.
You need to know how every type of wedding works, civil, church forign etc, inisde out and back to front.

There is alot of money to be made in this once you are established but that can take a wee while.
may i suggest you get in touch with a few companys and see if you can have a trial work experience with them, or some work shadowing.
this will give ya some idea to what it entails.

I always so though if you have a dream follow it, whats the point having regrets lifes to short.

Cheeck out my site for all your tiara hair accessorie needs:
