There's a class on Monday nights 7.30 - 9.00pm at Meersbrook Bank Primary School on Derbyshire Lane. I was a beginner when I started (still consider myself a "beginner" as well!). The teacher (Chris) encourages you to take it at your own pace anyway. It's £3.50 a night but you can pay £17.50 for a 5 week block. :D

Yeah, I go to that class too. It's very good, very relaxing. And as Lou says Chris will let you go at your own pace. I remember when I first went there were certain positions I couldn't do, he would get me doing alternatives. No-one thinks any differently of you. The great thing is that I can do those positions now! Yeh! :D
Hope to see you there.
If you come, the first class is free so you can try it out.
There is alot of relaxation during the class in between the positions, and for the final relaxation you may want to bring a blanket. Lots do, just to put over themselves at the end while lying down and relaxing for 10 mins or so as your body cools down.

They also run Yoga classes at Ponds Forge.

'Chris!' - Too much of a coincidence not to be my yoga teacher too (different class though)..
I think he's really good - especially if you're a beginner.

I go to the yoga class at ponds forge.

You get a different teacher depending on the day / time of the class. Janet and Georgia are the two main teachers at ponds forge. Both are really friendly and seem to know what they're doing.

:D

Does he do the chanting? (can't think of the proper name for it).
He's just come back from another course and he's even better. He knows his stuff re: the spiritual side of it.
If it's the same guy, where are his other classes?

I think his second name is 'Noon'. His partner Hanna has just had a child. That him?

I don't know his surname or his partners name so I couldn't say if it was him or not. He always wears baggy white trousers and a yellow jumper if thats a help!

Or you can fall asleep and start snoring as Foxxx did last week.

Me and Lou are replying at the same time on this post! (We sit opposite each other at work!), think she's leaving this one to me now.....

Yes, Chris has got mousey brown hair but I don't know where else he teaches. I'll have to ask him.
Back to the original post though, the Meersbrook Bank school is in S8. I'll find out where else his classes are as others may be interested in his classes.

We don't breath out through pursed lips (thats pilates breathing isn't it?). We do abdominal breathing in through the nose and out the nose using ab muscles not lungs. We also do alternative nostril breathing too. Maybe you have a different Chris?

lol! This is true, I was soooo relaxed at the end I drifted away and let out a snore! It woke me up and I tried to hide it by faking a cough!

Reading back in this thread it can't be the same Chris. The class I go to is also Monday evenings 6:30 - 8:00, so unless he's developed the ability to be in 2 places at once then it can't be him.

Strange though. Sounds just like him. Charges the same amount too for the classess. Also the abdominal breathing and alternate nostril breathing are familiar too.

Weird

i think its the same chris - he wears baggy pale trousers. the breathing thing is not him i'm quoting, thats an older lady who teaches elsewhere. i've had about 7 different teachers in total as i've done yoga at a couple of places here and in india.

theres loads of different types of yoga, but your right i thought the breathing would be the same throught. then again chris does that technique where you breathe in through one nostril and out through the other so i guess there are various breathing methods!

I suppose most yoga teachers will find out the going rate to charge for a yoga class, so £3.50 seems to be the going rate? Strange coincidence though that both teachers are called Chris and that despite all the different types of yoga, your class does the same breathing techniques as ours. Hmm... ;)
