I came home from work today to find out that my broadband connection has been upgraded from about 500 odd kbps to 2.2mbps... I had no idea this was happening then found a letter that arrived this morning saying it was going to happen, with no extra cost to myself per month.... has anyone else had this happen, It just seems very odd... not that Im complaining!

Has happened here at Deejay towers too.. Letters/emails were sent out to everyone but some don't appear to have got it :(

Whilst introducing this 2.2mbs service with no extra cos they are capping how much bandwidth you get, it currently stands at 30gig for the month which is generous if you are a moderate downloader :)

We had ours done last week sometime

Feckin' Wanadoo aren't doing the upgrades though

I'm changing ISPs when the 12 month contract runs out and going with PlusNET, 1Mb connection for 3 quid a month less than I'm paying now for 512k.

It was totally unexpected, not so bothered about the capping of bandwidth im not a huge downloader, just a forum and ebay addict.... you should ask matt about my strange ebay addictions deejay lol!

At F9/plusnet you have to request the upgrade, but it's free

I'm on 3x Tiscali and they say that I am now upgraded to 5x but none of my meters or tests show any increase as yet.

With better deals sprouting up, I now learn that Tiscali is virtually the only provider that will not support "migration" and this could mean a 3 or 4 week gap in shutting down Tiscali and activating a new provider! And a new activation fee would have to be paid.
("migration" allows a seamless transfer but needs cooperation)

That's so annoying. Why do I always back the wrong horse?

Mine gets upgraded in June...YAY! Got a letter from BT today too trying to coax me back to them by pointing out their 'low' prices! Yeah..but they fail to mention the cap-limit they imposed, which was the reason I left them in the first place! All ISPs who put a download restriction on Broadband suck serious ass!! They try to promote themselves saying "Watch streaming video....listen to net radio...and much more!"...if you do that, then after a week you are screwed for the rest of the month!!

AOL emailed everyone saying they were upgrading and my area is due in March/April. No extra charge. Brilliant.

Go to the appropriate Keyword on AOL which I think is Upgrades.
