There was a time when you could legitimately talk in terms of 'Sheffield's best DJ'... but that time has long gone.

There are now loads of excellent djs around each with their own style and slant.

Why no Gloves?

mjlacey21
10-03-2005, 09:26
It's difficult to get money out while wearing gloves so it could get embarrassing if there were a lot of people at the bar and one person was fumbling around for their money. They might spend the rest of their life traumatised by the memory of all those eyes boring into them as they frantically tried to separate a 50p from a pound...

or another reason maybe

Who the **** wheres gloves when they are in a club. Have I missed something I thought clubs were generally hot and sweaty.

I suppose it has something to do with scallies wearing their coats inside and taking it one step further.

What if they are white raving gloves?

Maybe its because you can hide stuff in them? *shrugs* Although pockets are pretty good for keeping stuff in too...

Best DJ in Sheffield ? That bloke with the laptop at Reflex Bar (monday nights) whose so good he looks like he's falling asleep (tek it from me - all part of the act). He knows how to get the crowd going. The rest are just self-indulgent bores.

Gloves not allowed ? First time i've heard that one before. Good job someone's doing it, i'm sick to death of going to club's full of people in gloves.

Scarves though ? What's all this nonsense with scarves in clubs ? Everyone hiding love bites or sumut ? Won't feel the benefit...

Door codes are kool. Like "Dress to impress" - who ? Why ? F-ck off ! I've come out to have a good time and i'm paying so you impress me !!!

"Sorry mate you should've made more of an effort" - how can they possibly tell how long it's taken me to get ready and what has happened since then ?

"Got to put yer coat in the cloakroom" - why ? Search me by all means but if i want to wear my coat in the club why can't I ? I might have put the wrong t-shirt on or I might be cold..

My favourite ones from personal experience:

Bed (about 6 years ago didn't even wanna blimmin go anyway)
"Where have you come from ?" (answer: er, sheffield)
"What part ?" (answer: Firth Park)
"sorry not tonight"

"Yer ok but yer mate's got ginger hair" (Ministry of Sound, London)

"You can wipe that f-cking smile off your face else your not coming in" ??!?!?!?!? (Zap, Brighton)

"Not tonight. No food" (after eating a bag of crisps before joining a queue)

"Sorry mate. Come back next week" (Po Na Na, with my records about to go and play, sober)

Keep em comin'.....

"The promoters of this night are crap aren'y they. Have you got a light for this spliff mate".

One time a few mates of mine got refused entry to the Casbah on a rock night apparently because of what they were wearing.

I was outside and noticed a sign on the window which read: "wear what you want we don't give a sh*t!" so I challenged the bouncer and he was like "yeah but it dosn't mean you can come in dressed like **** though"

underground - you really know how to show my home town up to be a bunch of idiots. I'm from rotherham and have dj'd for nearly twenty years in various clubs round the region and country and i'm sorry but if you think that Rotherham dj's are better than sheff jocks you are sadly mistaken.

True there are a couple in roth that i rate and a couple with a lot of potential but to make a sweeping statement like that only means anything else you put will not be taken seriously.

I admire your dedication to Eotherham clubbing cause but to say Kucia is the best in Roth and then say Roth are better than sheff just aint true, Lee if you are reading this you know who i am and you will get there mate, any help i can give just wander up the road.

What's with this thread? More importantly, how do you define the "best DJ" anyway??

Can you only be considered if you play speed garage then? Do you get extra points for beingat a successful night??

And as for Rotherham djs are better than Sheffield - deary me! Is this a which town can pi$$ the highest contest then.

I'm from Rotherham and run events in Sheff for over 10 years - which am I? Do I not count cos I live in Manchester now??

I think Tom Lynch from Pin-Up deserves some props on here...

He has come on leaps and bounds in the time I have known him and now plays an itelligent well produced sound of house music..

and your point is?

Point is if you like D&B then you ain't gonna pick a hard house jock as best DJ. If your idea of fun is hearing agadoo (eek) then god only knows which fcukwit you'll pick.

Obviusly the "best"dj can not be defined,it is a matter of opinion was just wondering about other peoples personal favourites.no need to get nasty about it.
BTW only speed garage djs can be considered for this prestigious title of "best dj" how silly of people to think otherwise(lol aint that narrow minded thanks!)

i don't think he was getting nasty, he was making a valid point (as have you).. i think you misread his post, the "****wit" wasn't aimed at you!
