Desperation

Everyone knows these sites don’t work. Full of 3Am post and half hearted people. Finding someone is like pulling an intact tooth out of a head full of rotten ones.

I want to start a band that reflects the world as it is without dramatizing it or glamorizing it The lies, the unnecessary suffering people cause each other because they’re too selfish, too comfortable, having too good a time to do otherwise. Aspirations colliding with reality, knowledge of failed dreams, and the relentless procession of next days.

Words should be backed up with emotion. Music should be dredged up from somewhere deep inside you, fetid raw and ugly but oddly beautiful. And it should sound like it being done by a person, not a mechanical cube with cynical idiot operating it at one end.
The whole thing; music, words, ideas, images should be a world you can sink into like a shady room on a hot day.

I sing and write lyrics and I am looking for band members, primarily someone to write songs with (think a lonesome Morrissey wandering the moors waiting for his Marr to rescue him).
The music should have wit, sensuality, spite disgust, desperation, fury in it. All the good things that are missing from music now. It should always have an undercurrent of darkness and despair.
Age range 18-30ish. Nothing against anyone older but I’m 20 and would feel massively uncomfortable with someone much older myself.

Bad things:
•Plinky t****y guitars that sound like someone’s playing with taunt knicker elastic.
•People who not only tolerate but accept the categorisation of Coldplay as music. Music should be a source of joy not the vague satisfaction of getting the paperwork done. Feeling is what maters.
•Kate Nash is not indie.
•Talking in s fake regional accent (meaning south London or generic north accent) and rhyming things with ‘Stella’ does not make you edgy and in touch with real life. It makes you a derivative ****.
•Just wanting to have a laugh. It’s a band not a social club. Life is not a party. Think tat makes you either blind or stupid.

I Love: Manic Street Preachers, Pulp, Suede, The Smiths, No Doubt.
I like: Joy Division, Morrissey, Patti Smith, Bowie, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Divine Comedy, Musicals, The Clash, Happy Mondays, Bill Hicks, Catatonia, Elastica, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Babes in Toyland etc.

If you are interested contact/email me with influences, the things that are going on in your head that make you want to make music, what you want the soul of the music to be,

And for the love of Christ don’t just say you want to make music, it doesn’t matter what. Like something and have something to say for yourself.

Although I like all the artists you have mentioned i'm not sure if you'd be into our music, but i may be wrong so thought I'd post anyways.

Were 4 guys, 19-25. We all played in a band before but split up due to issues surrounding the vocals, so were seeking a new vocalist. The songs on the myspace arnt a great representation but its something to go on....

( the first song was the band live about 2 years ago, the others i've recorded myself to a drum machine )

Some we still play some we dont but it gives you a idea anyway. But hey, if you don't find a band you should take up writing, you seem pretty articulate :)

I really like the idea of doing something a bit edgy, a bit seedy, a bit... dark. I play guitar but i'm not technically fntastic. I like how simplistic repetition can sometimes sound quite powerfull. For an idea of my influences check out Test Icicles or Therapy? Just a slight snag. I'm 35. Life is rosy. I have an alright job, a wife and two lovely kids. I wear carpet slippers and drive a volvo. I have nothing that draws emotion into my songwrighting. Maybe I'm a bit too 'born to be mild' but I like where you're coming from, keep us updated on your progress!!!

Why would I want to listen to a band going on about the state of the world when thats all we get in the media??? I want to go and see a band to get away from how sh it the world is!!!! Music should be about escaping the real world and feeling good about life, not (in my opinion) to have all the cr ap things put to music. People talk too much about the world being so bad, whats wrong with bands commenting on the good things in life??? Just my thoughts!!!

yeah i'm interested.

i listen to a lot of music, the living end, jebediah, easyworld, the clash, dire straits to name but a few. the list goes on but i have a catalogue of songs that i have written that just don't sound right with my voice (in my opinion). i used to play songs with a girl who got snapped up by tears for fears for a new project.

if you want to get in touch pm me.
