Has anyone ever seen Irreversible? I watched it last night (rented from video shop) and i thought it was one of the best films ever made, but also one of the most disturbing. Its filmed backwards starting from the end and its about a woman who is horribly raped and her boyfrind and ex husband get revenge. It stars Monica Bellucci (Matrix 2&3). Just wanted to hear other peoples views on the 2 scenes that are brilliantly done but also horrific. If you have seen it you will know which i mean.

I know which one you mean because I've seen bits on a review on tv when it first came out but I haven't seen the whole film as I didn't feel I could sit through it because of the subject matter.

i can see the films merits but the violance in both the attack scene at the begining and the rape scene was all too much for me

It sounds quite haunting, and I try to avoid films that stay with me for a long time. I still feel quite depressed after watching Threads on Saturday!

i`m not phased by disturbing violent films, but irreversible is one film, along with texas chainsaw and clockwork orange i wish i hadnt bothered with - no better off having seen em, and left feelin a little depressed.

Sometimes i think the makers of these films just make em disturbing/outrageous just to get notoriety/revenue out of an otherwise average storyline.

Maybe its a french production thing - i think baise moi was similarly trying to be disturbing. I dont think it really needed the 'porno' scenes.

Saw it at the Showroom and would agree that its not for the fainthearted.

Camera angles and the opening soundtrack are both relentless and nauseating and thats before the killing and rape begin.

Having said all that I think the performances of both Vincent Cassall and Belluci are excellent and the story is worth telling.

Glad I watched it but wouldn't put myself through it again

intersting film.

very hard to watch. The start with the light and camera moving game me one hell of a headache.

Not one I'd want to watch again really but worth a watch.

The opening ten minutes of that film was one of the most nauseating and impressive scenes I've come across in film, absolutely incredible.

Disturbing and challenging, really enjoyed it.
