The last time I had a suit made to measure, the tailor asked me a question that stumped me, he said which side do you wear your trousers sir? it was a few seconds before I realised what he meant.

I didn't realise It would make any difference, but it does.

The Tailor I went to asked "Do you dress to the right or to the left sir?"

Sme thing though - apparently they add a little extra material on that side to give 'breathing room'

It's been the case in the UK as long as I can remember when you go to be measured for a suit - same in the US, Canada, South Africa and Hong Kong to my knowledge.

We should have a pole for the men: Do you dress to the right or to the left Sir? - or is this sexist?

ps. hope it is - I love anything that goes against the politically correct bigots.

Hmm has Caprice worked out what we're on about, or does she need putting out of her misery do you think?

Well I have never had a suit made to measure but I do favour the right :D

I have always had a theory that right handed men dress to the left and left handed men dress to the right.

Get that poll rocking and put it to the test!! (if you pardon the expression!)

I was just going to ask Upholder the question - Is he left-handed?

It does seem 'practical'.

I think there was a bit in Are You Being Served where John Inman asked a customer which side he dressed to which he received the reply:

The side nearest the window.

I'm right handed as a rule but in the job I do (upholsterer) I use my left hand for the creative work, the right hand just fires the bullets.
I suppose that could explain it :?
