Does anyone know if there is a car stereo player directly into which you can plug memory cards.

What I want is a system which I can use to play MP3 files.

I don't want a unit into which I plug an MP3 player, I want a unit into which I plug my memory card.

I seems to me that we wont be using cassette or CD players in cars much longer becuase these will be replaced by memory cards which are much smaller and require less electricity.

I have got an Alpine stereo that plays mp3/wma cds - ie a cd with mp3s burned onto it - it even copes with folders and sub folders.

I shouldn't be long before there is one with a usb port though (and digital radio!).

There's a headunit around from Blaupunkt, I think its called Balupunkt Woodstock DAB53, and this plugs MMC cards directly into it.

I can't remember if theres one on the 'For Sale' section here or if I saw it somewhere else, but if you search for Blupunkt Woodstock on ebay, it should get you some results.

To be fair though, you'd probably be better off just getting a normal in car MP3 player headunit, as you can fit a lot more onto a CD than an average memory card.

Sony do a couple of really good ones, brand new for about £120ish I imagine (Mine was £150 about a year ago)
