View Full Version : Who is getting relegated from the Premiership this season?
Stuff the hype at the top! It's all happening down the bottom end, rather tight at the moment - any team could face the drop if they don't get their acts together.
Derby must be certain, but a couple of wins from Fulham and slip ups from a few above could get them climbing safe.
What three teams do we think? (Multi choice poll - pick three!) Be honest, I can take it...
(sob, sob!!!)
mr craig 08-03-2008, 00:08 I think Derby and Fulham are certs for me. I'd go with Reading for the other team, they couldn't buy a win at the mo.
I voted Derby, Fulham, Reading too but ideally I'd like to see Newcastle go down, for no other reason than it's always fun when the big team goes down (as long as you don't support said big team).
samesame monkey 08-03-2008, 01:09 Derby, Fulham and Newcastle for me, Steve Coppell knows how to avoid relegation, and has been in worse positions than this. Keegan has no idea what to do, unfortunately.
CHAIRBOY 08-03-2008, 21:02 Keegan, hopefully! Did say it was a "root and branch" job but this is worse than the much criticised Allardyce.

I voted the same- don't want to see Newcastle go down, don't think their fans derserve it.

Would love to see Newcastle go down because of the way they treated Allardyce and it might just make toon army realise you have to work for success,no one has a devine right to expect it as they do.
They have got some quality players in
Owen
Smith
Duff
Butt
Milner
Given
Martins
Viduka
But its obvious they dont play together as a team

Or maybe the right man in could tranform the above players into a proper unit which will then allow each one use their strenghts to the advantage and compliment their team player. I am not a Toon fan but just think they need a win or trophy.
I think we can stay up. Wigan had a terrible losing streak, as we did (only just crawled out of it!), but they managed to pick themselves up and get some points in again. Think we can do the same.

Fingers crossed. How poor is it relying on other teams! I could be very wrong with my predictions!

It didn't help the Blades last season. :(
firecracker 06-05-2008, 20:26 It didn't help the Blades last season. :(
... or in 1994, when the Blades were relegated in the last 30 seconds of that season. And who could forget 1981, when a converted penalty five minutes from full time, plus a missed penalty for the Blades two minutes from time sent them down to the old Fourth Division and trips to places like Halifax.
BasilRathbon 07-05-2008, 09:35 Personally I'd like to see Reading relegated for cheapening the FA Cup when they said they "couldn't give a **** about it", fielded their reserve team and got themselves knocked out.
Portsmouth took thhe FA Cup seriously and it didn't exactly harm their Premiership campaign, did it?
Dread Sunday! Dread, dread, dread, dread, dread! It’s not the end of the world if we go down I suppose. Will only be crying for two minutes then I’ll have forgot about it!
scottishdude 10-05-2008, 23:44 Heard that Bolton were 200/1 to go down which is worth a quid don't you think?
If Reading score 3 against Derby and Chelsea beat Bolton 3-0 then Reading stay up, but Fulham would need a barrow load against Portsmouth for Bolton to go down. Birmingham need to rely on scores of the above 3 bottom clubs.
COME ON WIGAN!!!!!!!!!

SORRY
Shame it had to be you rather than the Harrods outfit - I hope you keep faith with Steve Coppell and come back next season
firecracker 11-05-2008, 18:39 For those who voted for Fulham to go down, enjoy your humble pie.

Made me laugh seeing the poll shoot up with correct 'predictions' though. :D
Excellent!! managed to go all day avoiding the scores so I could enjoy MOTD!
Shame Fulham escape :(

Yes, Bulldog, you are right about that....
I was putting that from a purely selfish point of view.... my brother lives in London, so for us going to play them next year and a weekend away would have been just fine. ;)
A few weeks ago, I would have said they were dead certs for the drop.

Ah well, felt a bit sorry for the Reading supporters today. They've lasted longer than I thought they would in the top flight though, kind of similar to when we in the prem last time (before last season)...
Nowt worse than going down on the last day as most footy supporters have been through. :gag:
Great season though, lots of late excitement in all leagues. :)
I wonder whether we'll see AFC Wimbledon soon, they got promoted this year again, only 2 off the league now I believe.
Doesn't seem that long ago that you needed at least 40 points to avoid relegation - this season 7 teams got 40 or below.
Prem consists of 4 leagues - the big 4 - the UEFA hopefuls - the hope we finish mid / lower half of the table - and the let's pray we survive - mind you this season Derby created a new league of their own - summat like only here for the parachute payment - next season I can see there being a couple of teams fighting it out to get a dozen points.

Agreed
The big 4 wont be broken for a long time because of the champions league money
