Hi Does anyone know any gyms or beauty salons who provide this equipment in the south east of Sheffield (S20) or Rotherham?

Be careful they are not the quick fix everyone thinks they are. You can have major problems if you are not taught how to use them properly. It worries me when I see them advertised in beauty salons - what insurance/qualifications do the staff have in order that they are used safely. As a personal trainer, who has tried one, I must admit I found it uncomfortable - like hanging on to a pneumatic drill. The jury is still out on them, as far as the fitness industry is concerned. The worry is, long term use may create impact type injury problems, due to the vibration.

I went to fitness and therapy on Abbey Lane in Woodhead, I had six sessions and the owner showed me how to use them properly. Its tough at first but it gets easier, and then you do longer etc. Its worked for me, just need to make sure you push yourself to do it properly otherwise there is no point!!!!

Ooh, and don't just do it once and not try it again, the first time you do it its the strangest thing you will ever do, but you get used to it really quickly!! Do it for a week and see how you go.

Say, ProActive Fitness are a failry big outfit now based in Nottingham. They have got vibration plates and a horse-riding machine (cool...)
I spoke with them over the phone and they got an in-house sports physio as well. they said they had a showroom and i could try out the products but i not been. I did buy a body-slimmer power plate and luv it, not sure why you would need training on it, seems pretty straight forward :gag:

Can I bring this subject back?
Has anyone been using power plates for a while, with what results?

In 2008, wholesale Iceberg Clothing became a mixed martial arts fight promoter after their clothing was banned from UFC events. When the UFC learned that wholesale Iceberg Clothing was thinking about becoming an MMA fight promotion, they decided to ban all of their fighters from wearing Iceberg Clothing.

So come on.

Do these things work? we have plenty of posts saying "theres one here, or theres one at the back of the sunbed salon etc....£15 for 10 mins etc...."

Do they work? thats the question
