Any advice or help from the pet group leaders would be appreciated. Thanks Strix 06-03-2008, 10:16 you can put him on the private rehomings page on Rain Rescue's website, and you can have a look at the sticky at the top of the group for the format you have to use for advertising pets on this forum why are you getting rid btw? have you explored all the alternatives? staffies are particularly difficult to rehome as there are just so many of them available :( emma1980 06-03-2008, 10:27 Thank you! yes i looked at alternatives, but the people have been letting me down. We are getting rid because, we have 4 children age 8-1 and only have a 2 bedroom house, both of us are in work and he dose'nt get the attention he need and i feel guilty. Strix 06-03-2008, 10:32 well don't feel guilty ;) at four years old he's got to his settling down age, and he loves his family to bits there is a 'culture' for pressurising pet owners about how much exercise etc a dog gets, but that ignores the fact that a dog has made a home with a family! so long as he's got his family for company, and he gets a good run out of a weekend, he'll be fine :) geckoqueen 06-03-2008, 10:50 Hi, Please read this post, http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=214305. It advises you on your options for rehoming. If you decide to rehome him here, please post the template and advise the GLs so we can close the thread. Thanks. Moonbird 06-03-2008, 10:53 Hi Emma I'm not sure what any of the GL's can do to help you with your staffy? I'm afraid that as Strix has pointed out staffies are very difficult to rehome once they get past the cute puppy stage.... even then its not always that easy. Unless you want to go through the rescue route? but frankly it won't be easy to find one to take him just because of sheer numbers, you can obviously advertise him on here by filling out the rehoming template at the top of the forum, add as much information as you possibly can... there are also other sites where you can advertise your dog, such as dogpages and on the rainrescue site, I will send the links for those if you would like? If you need to part with your dog really soon I'm afraid the only way of doing that is likely to be by taking him to the dog pound, but if I'm honest the chances of him being homed from there are small... I'm not trying to upset you or put you off but simply telling you the truth as it is  Have you explored alternatives such as dog walkers or dog sharing? that can work, any relatives who might take the dog for a couple of hours in the day? I am really sorry there is no magic wand that anyone can wave with this one, I wish that I could. gatecrasher3 06-03-2008, 15:00 well don't feel guilty ;) at four years old he's got to his settling down age, and he loves his family to bits there is a 'culture' for pressurising pet owners about how much exercise etc a dog gets, but that ignores the fact that a dog has made a home with a family! so long as he's got his family for company, and he gets a good run out of a weekend, he'll be fine :) Agreed. Keep hold of him and love and enjoy him and he'll love you right back. xxhunniixx 06-03-2008, 15:20 gate crsher wasnt u looking for a staffy hun the one i had went to his new home yesterday eeejay174 06-03-2008, 17:44 hi if you really feel unable to cope, you can contact the northern staffordshire bull terrier rescue on http://www.sbtrescue.org.uk/ is their web address - they re-home staffs and it is easier for them to re-home dogs with a known history, what they may say is that you will need to hang onto him until they can find him a suitable home. you can call bob whitall on 01229 465791 Between the hours of 11.00am and 7.00pm hth emma gatecrasher3 06-03-2008, 19:49 gate crsher wasnt u looking for a staffy hun the one i had went to his new home yesterday Yeah, but we already have a dog so thought he'd get on better with a bitch. Glad Tess found a new home. Picky1 06-03-2008, 20:40 If i did not have one already i would have taken him because they are loving dogs i would not get rid of mine for all the money in the world he is great.
