The wedding is three weeks away, and we still haven't thrashed this one out. He was a PSB fan when I met him, and I favoured AOR/80's glam/slease.

What should we have as the first song to open the dancing with? :banana:

Celine Dion and her ilk are completely out BTW. :gag:

We're thinking perhaps Aerosmith type of stuff. :headbang:

Why not go for something that makes you both laugh and that you can do a silly dance to? Went to quite a posh wedding once and they did YMCA. Totally out of character and supremely funny!!

Stay with me till dawn, by Juzy Tzuke,
listen to that ride cymbal. This song is both cool sexy and slow, perfect.....

How aboooooooout...

Approaching the alter song;
Should I stay or should I go - The Clash

The Happy Couples first dance;
Cryin' - Aerosmith
Don't wanna miss a thing - Aerosmith

Morning after song;
Shook me all night long - ACDC :hihi: :banana:

Sounds like you had a good laugh there, Feargal.

Many of my family are rock fans, and I'm having a leather dress with matching knee high boots (which looks nothing like that sounded), so we're trying to get the right balance. Just trying to do what we like - but subtly.

Do you know me Dee? :suspect:

Mr Strix has suggested 'Battleship Chains' but I would be forced to sing the Rebels lyrics :rolleyes:

When we got married......

I walked down the aisle to the traditional wedding march but on the way of the venue, had Billy Idol, "nice day for a white wedding". The first line "Hey little sister, what have you done!" made most people smile.....

As for the dance..... Thunder "When love walked in"...... great song but its a long one which added to the embarrassment factor.....

My advice, when you are picking check the running time!

Good luck on the day. :thumbsup:

I love that song too! Thanks for the top tip! :thumbsup:

We have a friend who's a pianist for the service, so we're having Canon-Pachelbel for the entrance (can't cope with the wedding march), the girl with the flaxen hair-Debussy for the signing and The Golliwogg's Cakewalk-Debussy for the Exit. :hihi:

You can find clips to play on Amazon :D

Were there two grooms on the cake by any chance Feargal? :P

Strix, I think 'Don't Wanna Miss a Thing' would be a fab choice!

I think, Amaze by lonestar would be good.

We are getting married in 2 weeks also, and that is what we have chosen.

I must admit it made a change from Shania bloody twain. Also, been to one where the couple absolutely insisted on "no first dance", and asked for good popular songs to get everyone up and dancing. The DJ kicked off with a motown-y selection... first up? Yes, Freda Payne's Band of Gold.:sad:

Hmm. Let's see....

80s AOR...... First dance suitability.....

When I See You Smile - Bad English
Faithfully - Journey
Right Here Waiting - Richard Marx
Never Tear Us Apart - INXS

I thought of a load more, but on closer inspection of the lyrics they weren' t suitable.

All the best with the wedding, Strix. :)

Can't offer any suggestions I'm afraid, but I have to say that planning the music for our wedding was one of the most fun parts. They were all pretty obscure numbers, but perfect for the occasion.

For the bride's entrance we had "The Whole World Window" by the Cardiacs, which sounds far more wedding-marchly than the wedding march itself.

While we were signing the register we had "Largelife" by Lake of Puppies.

And as the two of us left the room, we had "You're Amazing in Bed" by Ooberman (though it seems nobody else there spotted the lyrics).

As for the wedding disco, we just stuck on an S Club Juniors CD and let the kids get on down, while all the grown-ups stayed in the bar until the proper DJ arrived.

Debussy sounds like an excellent choice for your wedding ceremony, I'm going through a real Debussy obsession at the moment.

I could if you paid me! I would also recommend the cover version by Richard Cheese, it's pure genius. It's on his classic 'Lounge against the Machine' album. Infact you can pay him to appear at weddings and such like. Check him out.

Except we are having 'the girl with the flaxen hair - Debussy' for the register signing. We only found out after the order of service was printed that it's a love song to a deceased love :rolleyes:

Can you think of some funky stuff that's not mushy, Mtheo? (I like the 'Cherry Pie' suggestion :thumbsup: )
