Today in PSHE we did a supid pointless exercise about the best thing about being of each gender. Pointless really. Took me ages to work out what was so great about being a woman!

Mine were: Cheaper car insurance & Ability to look older by wearing make up!

What do you think?

Best things about being a bloke, erm let me see:-
1.men tend to get paid more for doing exactly the same job as a woman.
2.we're allowed to drink more alcohol.
3.we can get away with forgeting birthdays and such.

And i'm pretty sure there hundreds more, but i'm sure you ladies can think of plenty of things to balance it out. :)

The best thing about being a bloke is that you never have to grow up :D

Men and boys...size of their toys and all that

Yeah, come to think of it there are loads of great things about being of either sex, but faced with the question at 11am on a Monday, there really wasn't anything that sprung to my mind!!!

Men get to sleep with women without being called a lesbian.

Yes to the bit about growing up. I still find it difficult to get myself to go to bed (exception being see above) now I haven't got my mother to tell me.

I can go into pubs on my own and read a book without being approached by every other man in the pub.

Men don't feel the need to breed - just the sex bit.

Lots more, may add them later.

Agree with caprice on the makeup bit i feel sorry for teenage boys who have spots and cant cover them up with concealer for fear of looking gay.

I think men have it very hard socially wise in that there is this 'fear' of being or seeming gay or feminine in any way for example talking about feelings or crying. My boyfriend wont even wear t-shirts that are tight because he thinks theyd look gay whereas ill wear whatever i feel like wearing.

Men are weird.

Maybe your boyfriend just doesn't like tight T-shirts because he doesn't have big arm muscles?
Also, I feel sorry for girls who constantly worry about their weight as a result of pressure from magazines, TV, etc, all portraying these awful and ill looking, thin, skeletons as being 'sexy', when infact they are not at all. Girls also seem more obliged to keep up with fashion in terms of clothing, and must constantly feel vulnerable with so many perverts about, ranging from those who stand about oggling to rapists. Also, theres the old 'time of the month', which I could imagine being pretty about. Its also bad for us men though, with 3 - 5 days of 'no entry'.
The things I don't like about being a man mainly revolve around the pressue from the lad culture in which we live, mainly at my age. I am expected to enjoy beer, clubbing, sleeping around with slappers, and acting like an immature moron with little respect for anything or anyone. Personally I enjoy the quiet life and prefer walking, cinema, a long term girlfriend, etc, to being 'the lad'.

Its not just tight t-shirts its anything that hes seen someone he assumes to be camp wearing.

I wouldnt enjoy being a man i prefer being a woman we're pretty and graceful and can experiment with fashion and makeup whereas men are just great big bumbling idiots who go around heckling and making sexual inuendos.

Anyway if i was a man my boyfriend would probably commit suicide just at the mere thought of being gay for a day!

What EVER made you think that??
The wonders of being a woman is to make you suffer for doing just that. You may not realise it at first as we can be very subtle. You will pay eventually and live to regret it!! My birthday is April 4th, OKAY :)

Hmm best things about being a man:

Typically more money for the same job.
Ability to sleep around without being called a slapper (if you want to!)
Less stress to conform to an arbitary ideal body image - though this is changing.
Not having to / being able to give birth!

Worst things:

Less social freedom (at least in the UK) in terms of choice of jobs, social roles, clothing etc.
No screening and minimal research into male cancers as opposed to for female cancers.
Lower average lifespan.
Requirement to be macho and sensitive at the same time!
Anti-intelectual, anti-social alcohol soaked laddish culture.
Having to ask girls/women for a date!
Male pattern balding!

Firstly you don't make sense really, but i get what you mean, and the sensitivity is just amazing, and your no entry problem is another aspect not dicussed, but that could be just your problem.

Secondly, it is nice to see there are some lads that aren't full on beer monsters, as all people are different and not all lasses are ladette types either and are after a guy that is quiet and settled, as you have discovered.

The best thing about being a man is having somebody to talk to who doesn't just want to talk about beer and football (ie women!)

One of the best things about being a woman is being friendly with other women - who are great fun and great support

Another best thing is that we dont have to wee in public

And nobody expects you to build brick walls, or do anything physical, but they are pleased when or if you do

And finally, it is okay to cry when you watch Heartbeat or Casualty or Little House on the Prarie if you want, and you might get teased a bit but you wont be cast out

The best thing about being a man is knowing you're not a woman.

Edit:

But the nicest thing, surely about each sex, is knowing there's a bit of each other in all of us, that way we understand each other.

Best thing about being a woman... being allowed to express ourself emotionally more freely then men, we dont have a problem being touchy feely with others, and specifically with the same sex, whereas men do. The only "male bonding" I ever see tends to involve the men being drunk or at a sports event or watching something vaugley pornographic :D

Worst thing about being a woman, agree with Max is not being able to sit in a pub on your own and have a quiet drink without being accosted, and unfortunately it doesnt seem to matter what time of day either.

The best thing about being a woman is that you don't have to worry about making the first move.

The best thing about being a man is we don't have to give birth.

Oi! leave us shy ones alone. Though i must admit to being totally useless when it comes to first moves. In my last relationship, my then girlfriend had to make the first move, because when she was lying next to me literally nose to nose, i just thought she was being very friendly. Useless!
