Anybody else catch last night's programmes, or planning to watch in the week?

I was certainly not suprised by the things that topped the list of complaints...but I was more than a little offended by the comments of the complainers who were given the chance to voice their concerns on screen!

The one that got my back up was the woman surrounded by crucifixes, banging on about how the BBC's wages were paid by her and that this made them her servants and thus they should seek her approval for everything they broadcast.

1) Paying someone's wages does not make them a servant or slave

2) What about the hundreds of thousands of folks who pay their license fee and aren't christian or just don't share her poit of view...should the BBC ignore them...or provide one channel per license payer?

Did anyone else wonder why the complainers watched all those offensive programmes? They love it really! Otherwise they'd have no excuse to talk to anyone. At least they get some attention from someone if they complain.

I watched it and i spent the evening shouting 'If you don't like it then don't ****ing watch it!' at all the complainers! The woman that said that she didn't mind gay people she just didn't want to watch them and the disgusting things they do on her television was a complete loon! They said channel 4 was to cater for younger viewers or to be a bit different from the light stuff on BBC 1&2 and ITV and they are complaining?! Why not just watch one of the other 3 channels? I think the truth is they loved it they just wanted to be on the television!

At least they get some attention from someone if they complain. I was listening to the excellent Mr Robinson on Radio Sheffield one morning and heard one of his callers make the following comment:

"I was so disgusted, that do you know what I did?...I got up and turned the telly off!"

As though she'd discovered some new method of protest!

For one John McRirrick was right on the money when he said that if religion is that weak and paranoid that it can't stand up to something as silly and self-deprecating as the Jerry Springer opera, then the end really is nigh for those clinging to their bibles.

I'm a pagan, and as such I have to accept the fact that most don't understand my belief system and want to equate me with fictional stereotypes...but even I know when to swallow my bile and change the channel.

I just wonder why these bigots don't take the advice of "Why Don't You" and turn the bloody tv off!

I loved the clips of all the celebs saying their favourite swear words. Some real surprises there!

I just woke up after watching the programme last night with Mary Whitehouse trying to ban everything that moved and minced in a public place...can anyone tell me whether that old bigot is still alive?

Mary died around 22/23 November, 2001, after spending the last three years of her life in a care home.

I loved that woman with all of the crosses on her wall. It reminded me of the Buffy season 7 episode, 'Lies my Parents Told Me.' Principal Wood takes Spike to a garage/workspace, and there's crosses everywhere. He calls it his 'sanctuary.'

That's what I thought of when I saw her; this room was her sanctuary from all of the filth and degenerates.
