Hiya I was just wondering if sheffield has any dance groups for beginners to learn street dance / rnb / bodypopping. Just general dancing for clubs and stuff.
I'm really up for doing it, and would love to learn to a good level. Anyone recommend any 1 on 1 instructors or know of any good dance groups that would be good for me to learn quick.
I checked into both uni's and as far as i can see the dance groups offered by the uni are limited.
I'm going down to the fourm tomorrow tho to see the bodypopping competion :)
cheers
Did you use the 'search' button. There's been a few dance class/lesson threads on here.
Welcome to the forum BTW

I did actually :) Checked them all out :)
I was looking for some good recommendations of teachers really, and I thought the searched ones were abit outdated :<
And hi :) I've lurked for a long while :)
Plus I'm looking specifically for "younger" dance like for clubs :)

Hi Applejuice!
Welcome to the SheffieldFoum!
I am also on the look out for somewhere to dance around here. There just doesn't seem to be anything for the type of dancing that I do. I mostly dance in London but if anyone knows of anywhere around here PLEASE let me know!
I may just start my own dance troupe... anyone fancy joining? ;)
Hiya Applejuice.
PM 'pearlrocker', he is involved the organisation of body popping classes at the Forum and might be able to help... :)

My mate 'pearlrocker' is not running the classes at Forum on a Monday anymore as he is now running classes at the uni instead and doesn't have enough time to do both.
I'm not sure if it's open to anyone or just uni students though so I will have to ask him and let you know.

Which bit ? :P
The bit about the coke or the bit about the night, which was awesome :D
Anyone know which dude was the dude who runs the pearlrockers ?
As a newcomer to Sheff desperate to keep up my street dance classes, I was looking into this not so long ago and was told about classes run by Sheffield Dance Academy.
Apparently they do a beginners street dance class for adults at Hillsborough Leisure Centre on Thursday nights. Haven't been to it myself (why is it that as soon as you decide to do something suddenly every other engagement you have comes up on that same night?) but according to the website it's sort of an informal class, no need to book a place, just rock up whenever you feel like it.
Dunno if this is what you're looking for but it was the best option I found for street dance. You can check out the website at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/dasheffield/homepage.html
Hopefully I'll get there one day!!
I'm new to Sheffield too, and was told about Hype Dance Company. They do adult stuff at Hillsborough Thursday's and I think Friday's too - great class on THursday. Really nice people who were friendly to me, and it wasn't too fast to pick up!
I emailed them: info@hypedance.org.uk for class info
