I have 4 cats two male (Buster a black and white mog and Sydney a ragdoll both neutred) two females (Poppy a black and white moggy and Lilac a silver Maine Coon).

Lilac has been a bit well flirty the last week or so, shes only 7 months. So we gathered that she was having her first season, took her off to the vets today with Poppy who despite being wormed about 4 weeks ago has been eating me out of house and home! Anyhoo, vet examined Lilac and yes shes in season! Got to wait a few weeks before he can operate. Moves on to Popsicle ums and ahs a bit and then tells me the news that shes about 2/3 weeks pregnant!!!!! EH!??????

Poppy came thru a few homes before coming to mine and i was assured she was unable to have kittens! Now shes having them!!!!!????? Shes about 20/21 months old NEVER had them before.... I can only say im a bit shocked! Her nipples are a bit pinky and a few weeks ago we did have a big ginger and white tom lingering,, but I didnt think nothing of it!

Shes been grumpy and clingy to me and wont go out that much, I have been a cat owner for 7 years and never had kittens, so now im a bit, well erm im a bit shocked :help:

I always said i didnt want kittens and never prepared myself for them but theres no question of us not having them so i need help!

What do I do? :loopy::suspect::help::confused:

OOPS. It's not too late to terminate if you dont want kittens, most vets will do it and it won't harm Poppy. If both are outdoor cats, then they really ought to be spayed to prevent further mishaps. Maine Coons and Wegies tend to be late developers so 7-8 months would be about right for a first season. They dont fully mature in size til about 4 years old.

If you're determined to see it through and let Poppy be a mum (and I'm hardly one to have a go, seeing as my Norwegian Forest Cat recently produced 3 baby unplanned wegies), then you'll get plenty of advice from people who've been in the same position.

My moggie Donut had 4 kittens last july. On the advice of the vet (because i have 4 kids and a big dog) i set her up with a large box, blanket etc in my rabbit shed so she would have some peace and quiet and began to feed her in there a couple of weeks before she was due. I went down to feed the rabbits one day and heard a faint mewing from somewhere in the shed, but no sign of Donut! I eventually followed the noise onto the top of a 6 foot high French lop hutch, in a small box that my husband's motorcycle helmet had come in. Donut was just pushing out her 4th and final kitten, laying on some bubble wrap and a pair of thermal gloves! So much for preparation! I found homes for 3 of them with friends when they were very young, and had always planned on keeping 1 myself. 1 of these people back-tracked on me, and i ended up keeping 2 boys. I moved them into the house in a cat pen as soon as they began to move around. Donut was spayed as soon as possible after, and both her remaining kittens had their nuts chopped a coupla weeks ago. The only problem I've found is that as soon as we got rid of the kitten pen and the boys were on the loose, Donut totally turned against them. She now refuses to come in the house completely. My vet said this is quite common, for mum to turn against her kids :(
