Hi,
I'm a first year Journalism student at the University of Sheffield and as part of my course I need to go to Stannington and find news stories relating to the area. I don't know the area very well and I was just wondering if anyone could give me a brief outline of what the area is like. Also have any significant events taken place there, such as fires or deaths or are there any big community groups in the area? If you're from Stannington do you have an interesting story to tell regarding your life, are you proud to live there?
Any news or stories of any sort would be great. I'm open to lots of suggestions, if there's something to do with Stannington that you think needs investigating or reporting, please let me know.

Come to a forum meet sometime, buy me a pint and I'll blab on about how nice Stannington is, or used to be.

Stannington is very nice IMO, only real problem is that the top of Stannington is a bit isolated as the stupid bus companies think the area finishes at the Hall Park Head flats so a lot of the buses don't come anywhere near where I live :rant:
