I have seen 2 men , look to be probably father and son, in a silver newish car with rubbish piled up to the top of the windows in their car???? I have seen them previously when they had a mondeo, sat in the slip road at Gleadless townend, but now noticed they have changed their car. I was once behind them in my local shop and the younger one (prob about aged twenties) had a really bad smell, just like a dustbin, just wondered if anyone else had seen them, feel a bit sorry for them if they have to live in their car, mind you its a lot newer than my car!!!! I also once saw them in the library using the internet checking a map of a town online, and was just curious as to what they were doing. Nosey I know, but you wouldnt think 2 men would need to live in their car would you????

Are they Asylum-Seekers, or even migrant workers, perhaps?
Quite a few migrant workers end up living in cars, vans, and even camping in tents; I've seen the odd tent secreted away on wasteground; with the number of 'illegals' supposedly in this country alone, the resulting itinerant community is a LOT larger than the authorities would like to admit...

Surely if they can afford to buy a new car they can afford a small deposit to rent a flat??!!

Perhaps they were on the way down to Gleadless Valley tip on Blackstock Road?

No because everytime I have seen them, the rubbish is the same, literally fills the whole car and covers the windows, obviously except the front ones - the rubbish seems to be macdonalds wrappers etc, its really bizarre to see it.

The son is 32, we went to the same school and he was pretty normal back then, just a little quiet and nerdy.

What slip road at Townend? There isn't one! Unless you mean the two residential turn offs on White Lane?

They used to come into a shop I worked at a Crystal Peaks every day carrying carrier bags full of their stuff.
They did then get somewhere else to live and myself and other staff managed to get the Son to have his hair cut and clean himself up.
The Father then had an accident somewhere near the Old Asda I think, cant remember if he fell on the road or got run over.
The Son then used to come in by hiself as his Father was in Hospital for ages on leaving he could not do anything by himself and the Son looked after him, he use to buy shirts for everyday of the week instead of washing them.
Things got bad again and the last I remember they got a car and started living in it, this was about 3 years ago.

I knew exactly where you meant. :) I guess it's maybe Herdings as it's next to Herdings Park and what used to be called Herdings school?
