Thanks - both of those are gorgeous, only I'm a little scared by the cabley bits (I've never attempted cable before)!
;)Cable is like knitting socks - it's easy

This one (http://dyedinthewool.wordpress.com/2007/02/08/free-pattern-hot-water-bottle-cover/) is plain
This one (http://alison.knitsmiths.us/pattern_hwb_jumper.html) is the design-it-yourself option. You could make it then in any yarn with any pattern that you fancied.
I fill mine up from the hot tap - it's not so hot then that it burns your feet.

Another query from me I'm afraid! (I did a brief search of the forum but with no joy).
I've decided to mix and match some of the recommended hot water bottle patterns in this thread and want to knit a stripey version. I know stripes are supposedly simple but I've never attempted them before. I would rather not break the yarn and join a new colour at every stripe. What does everyone else do? I want to weave in ends as I go but I am making a mess quite frankly as I haven't a clue!
Er.....:help:

If it's only a few rows for each colour then you can twist the yarns together as you get tot he end of the row where the 'other' yarn is, just make sure your going ot be changing colours at that end :)

It's going to be about 6 rows (cotton DK). Do you think I can get away with twisting?
I would have thought so - yes, and I'm fairly sure thats what I did with a jumper for my daughter which had stripes that kind of size - seemed to work!

I'd say yes because your going to be sewing the sides together at the end anyway so you won't be able to see.
I've just been working on something that changes colour every 6 rows and I just twisted the yarn up the side rather than cutting it. Sooooo much neater!

If you're feeling creative daisy cat you could always try an animal hot water bottle cover like: http://www.thehotwaterbottle.com/five-animal-hot-water-bottle-designs/
