I have a golden wedding coming up in a couple of weeks in the family. The couple don't like ornaments or household stuff. They aren't into wine and it's unlikely they will want a weekend break away. My idea is to take them out for a meal and order them a bouquet of 'golden' coloured flowers with ribbons etc. They aren't a romantic couple either.
What are your ideas please.
Do they like gardening or anything like then? If they do how about a rosetree of golden roses.
What do they like to do in their spare time? The meal is a good idea as I think they will like that but is anyone else likely to have that idea too?
You may be better to find something related to their interests or something that will last.
Another idea would be have a family portrait done although I'm not sure you would get that done in a couple of weeks.
Is there anything they need for their house we bought our neighbours a dvd player for their Golden Wedding Anniversary last year because they didn't have one.

If not a portrait, what about a graphic artist making a nice collage from photos of them over their 50 years together and/or all the children, grandchildren etc.
Thanks for your ideas. At the moment I have the flowers and meal planned. They are going away for a couple of days on their anniversary thanks to a relative who has a caravan. I am also interested in the plant/tree/flower suggestion as they have a massive garden.
