The pic thing shouldn't be too hard. Have a poke about your profile options on xbox.com.

As for the clan thing, I don't think there is an 'official' xbox sanctioned clan setup. It seems to be more ad-hoc bunch of mates call themselves a clan, setup website/forum, with some sort of heirarchy ....

I have just had a look at clans and it does appear that you are right. With the gamerpic I believe you need to have the camera. Oh well, we know now.
