think the Washington are going to start doing it. You can always go into a cafe/coffee place in town and ask.

Some libraries may let you. I know that Hillsborough Library has exhibitions sometimes of local artists.

Hi I have an exhibition starting soon at Simunye, a great cafe and music venue on London Road. Currently I have one at Swinton Lock in Swinton, Rotherham which is an adventure/education centre - they put up your work, provide food and drink for the opening and charge no commision and are freindly too.

Another of the smaller venues is the University library near University roundabout.

Your nearest hospital would probably be more than happy to do this to brighten dreary wallspace and, there's miles of gallery wall there for you!

There's a new gallery opened on London Road called, surprisingly enough, London Road Gallery. It's been set up by a collective of artists, not sure whether they're looking for more people to show (it looked pretty full when I was in there) but they are very friendly and I'm sure they could give you some pointers.

There's BLOC space, a new gallery on Eyre Lane in the city centre. They exhibit cutting edge contemporary art, and you'd have to send your work in the form of a proposal.

They've got a website, which is blocspace.co.uk

ooop - and you could also check out the general art site for sheffield for some ideas - it's www.artsheffield.org

it has contact details for most of the galleries in Sheffield, so worth checking out methinks.

I went to check out Burngreave Chapel last night - they have held a couple of art shows in the past, and are very keen to get it used for more similar events. PM me if you need contact details.

Also, FOB café (used to be Coffee Revolution, near the cathedral in town) has various bits of art on the wall for sale.

The Great Sheffield Art Show is on in July at the Octagon Centre. Give them a ring.

i work for a charity (volunteer) and weve been thinking of some fundraising ideas - an art exhibition/show being one of them - is this something the artists amongst you would be interested in?
