View Full Version : Nuts, Zoo, Daily Sport buyers: daren't they ask for a Men Only?
Sam Miguel 05-03-2005, 11:44 At my workplace the male break-time reading material almost solely consists of NUTS, ZOO and THE DAILY SPORT.
I'd be interested to know if any male Sheffield Forum users indulge in what I would call "embarrassment-free soft porn".
I mean, judging by the front covers alone, they only need shoving up a notch and they'll be on the top sheves with the Penthouses and Men Only's anyway!
At least the latter are proud to call themselves soft porn, whereas the former throw in a couple of doubtful 'stories' and a few pictures of sporty cars in an effort to 'generalise' and de-pervicate the publications in question. It doesn't fool anyone, though.
Does the newagent ask you if you need a bag if you pick up a copy of NUTS?
Since the introduction of the "Daily Sport"
Our toilet roll consumption has doubled at work, could anyone cast any light on this, or is it just coincidence?
Sam Miguel 05-03-2005, 11:51 Coincidence. No, I doubt it.
I have heard that the editors of these 'magazines' and 'papers' are working on a special 'rustle- free' type of glossy paper to protect the secret toilet-reader from embarrassment.

I suppose it's just being read by Willy Wonker :D
I can honestly say I've thought more about buying a copy of Womans Own or Take a break more, than I've though of buying one of those "Men" mags. .
I've seen em and they look like they're marketed to all naive, insecure males, the generally homo-phobic and boy racers..
Also a good joke. .
Why do boy racers buy magazines like Loaded and FHM??. .
Cos they can't reach the real p0rn!!

Perhaps you could write to The Daily Sport and suggest they put perforations in the paper. That way you could kill 2 birds with one stone thus reducing your toilet roll consumtpion.
theres obviously a need for waterpfoof, non-stick paper then.....
Once i was so sick of my boyfriend reading the sport.. ok not only reading but hiding them to 'read' again that once when he was asleep i stuck them up like wallpaper to great him when he woke! he didn't find it funny but then neither did I!

Whoa whoah whoah there!!
I subscribe to FHM- and I aint no boy racer!
I dont want to be labelled one as such neither.
FHM is quality pure and simple.. its not like Loaded which is just tits/arse- FHM, its got a purpose too it.
Its got everything in there and its got something Loaded has not got- its got style baby!

Women read them too!! hmmm, maybe I shouldn't have admitted that , but there are some quality articles 'tho, especially in FHM
Sam Miguel 06-03-2005, 10:09 Quality! Ok, perhaps in some of the monthly glossies, but not in the the weekly and daily garbage!
Surely not?

So your not allowed to be offended by that gag, as it doesn't apply to you, as you aint a boy racer and you don't buy it in a stereotypical news agent. .

I have to to agree; who doesn't FHM have 'Top Tips' like Take a Break does?

No but it does have some great jokes and stories. Hmmmm maybe I could publish a new mag, half FHM, half Take a Break. That way it satisfies both men and women for the cost of one mag..........I can see the potential now.

Rather than Take a Break, it could be called Have a W***! That's bound to fly off the shelves! :D
