Try cleaning the cache of web pages that may be stored up:

In Internet Explorer, click TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS and on that page click the DELETE COOKIES, DELETE FILES and CLEAR HISTORY.

I would recommend a program called WINDOW WASHER from www.webroot.com to regularly clean your hard drive of such junk.

If your PC is quite regularly slow on the internet, I would suggest using another browser for the internet. Internet Explorer isn't the only one out there, but you would be forgiven for thinking so! Try MOZILLA or OPERA. Both run MUCH faster than IE does.

Save all your important files and format your PC.
Reinstall the OS and it'll go like lightning.

Most probably...that Norton is after world domination, and it's trying to get there through computers. Damn thing's even decided to disable my mail programme and send things it feels are acceptable itself.
My computer is being taken over by a malevolent dictatorship!

The virus can't damage your hard drive physically. Just format and re-install Windows.
