RPG 21-09-2003, 20:31 which operating system (OS) do you currently use on your Personal Computer (PC) Jon 21-09-2003, 20:35 Originally posted by RPG which operating system (OS) do you currently use on your Personal Computer (PC) Haha (sarky git lol) you mean windows 98 or freeserve (isp) on my pc ( Personal Computer )???? RPG 21-09-2003, 20:39 windows 98 ;) erm... not alot i can suggest really... is anything accessing the harddrive? (you'll see a light on the front of the PC on all the time (which isnt power :P)) Jon 21-09-2003, 21:06 next you will be telling me the cd rom tray is not for putting you coffee cup on :D alchresearch 21-09-2003, 21:26 Try cleaning the cache of web pages that may be stored up: In Internet Explorer, click TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS and on that page click the DELETE COOKIES, DELETE FILES and CLEAR HISTORY. I would recommend a program called WINDOW WASHER from www.webroot.com to regularly clean your hard drive of such junk. If your PC is quite regularly slow on the internet, I would suggest using another browser for the internet. Internet Explorer isn't the only one out there, but you would be forgiven for thinking so! Try MOZILLA or OPERA. Both run MUCH faster than IE does. Jon 21-09-2003, 21:37 :o thanks for all your help..rather not kick it thou lol i just run Norton windows doctor and it seems to be working a little better now upholder 22-09-2003, 08:41 Save all your important files and format your PC. That'll be why your PCs running like a slow pig then... cosywolf 22-09-2003, 12:07 Most probably...that Norton is after world domination, and it's trying to get there through computers. Damn thing's even decided to disable my mail programme and send things it feels are acceptable itself. My computer is being taken over by a malevolent dictatorship! Jon 26-09-2003, 20:58 :( I got the bad worm virus doing the rounds i'm using my old old old pc first one i ever had with windows 95 on :? The virus ****ed up my hard drive so until i get mine fixed or buy a new one i wont be posting as much ( start the party Jon is no longer here yay woooohooo ) I'll be back  alchresearch 26-09-2003, 21:00 The virus can't damage your hard drive physically. Just format and re-install Windows. Jon 26-09-2003, 21:07 Well i ended up with 6 viruses all sent in e-mails from ppl i know. The problem is i can't find my sound card and modem both seem to have vanished.....windows will crash everytime i add it....:o |
