To be fair to the BBC they weren't to know it was going to be the world's dullest football match.

What could they have said about the earthquake for two hours?

if you didnt want to watch the match, you could have turned over and watched something else.

... Like the ITV news for instance, that started at the correct time. How the BBC was meant to predict the match would be boring I'll never know, what does the OP suggest? That we cut off a boring game? If that's the case we'd have missed a fantastic last 10 minutes.

At the end of the day, you narrowly beat Bolton reserves, won a Man City side beaten by a ballooon and then lost to the only half decent side you came up against (now that was comedy, Kenny should be a comedian).

I was soooo glad it was on - Wednesday is the worst night of the week for TV i reckon!

I think they showed the game as they were honestly hoping for an upset. Although Utd are not performing in the league they still have a good side whilst for me Middlesbrough are average apart from a few good players. With the BBC having the FA Cup rights as well i think they're pressured into showing as many matches as they can.
