Looking at the Indian Ocean - does anyone have any recommendations? Kaye2812 27-02-2008, 12:19 We are going to Mauritius for our honeymoon, although depending on when you are looking to go will determine where is best to stay on the island. We go in August, which can be windy so we are staying on the North West of the island which is more sheltered than the East. We did look at the Maldives but it is monsoon season in August. The Seychelles were very expensive and we could get a much nicer hotel in Mauritius for our money. We are staying in the honeymoon suite at the Le Mauricia hotel. see www.beachcomber-hotels.com we booked through www.holidaysplease.co.uk PM me if you want more details. Kashul 27-02-2008, 12:49 Not a honeymoon but a great few days away thats for sure Hey Guys Just thought I would let one and all know about a great little b and b in Bowness on Windermere. It is run by a great couple Marie and Harry and they have two double rooms on suite in their little cottage off the main drag. Fantstic brekkie and they are both amazing people really good fun !! Place was spotlessly clean and they couldnt do enough for us. 25 per person per night I have their number 01539444987 Enjoy !! honeyb35 27-02-2008, 19:43 that sounds nice!! I really wanted to go to Las Vegas or New York for a honeymoon but I doubt it will happen unless we win the lottery! I think we might either go to dublin for a few nights or possibly one of those european xmas market trips, and get some xmas shopping at the same time :hihi: holidayhutch 01-03-2008, 21:21 Well we had our honeymon in a rented Motorhome and toured the Scottish highlands - it was October but fantastic and lovely and warm inside it, plus no one disturbing you, having to be back for meals at certain times etc and very very cosy in the bed;) honeyb35 02-03-2008, 10:37 Well we had our honeymon in a rented Motorhome and toured the Scottish highlands - it was October but fantastic and lovely and warm inside it, plus no one disturbing you, having to be back for meals at certain times etc and very very cosy in the bed;) I wouldnt mind doing that round part of Ireland! evildrneil 02-03-2008, 10:42 The witchery in Edinburgh - http://www.thewitchery.com/intro.html Sara1312 04-03-2008, 13:17 Just thinking about what honeymoon to have. problem is I am fastly running over our budget so I need ideas for VERY cheap holidays! Help plz waddy 04-03-2008, 16:11 SARA 1312 How about a cottage in the lake district, a p/o cruise, a short break to dublin or even a long weekend in Rome? Depends on the sort of holiday you want.I get married in Oct and we are not going away until christmas due to work commitments .We are going to the canary islands and taking our 2 lads. Claret 04-03-2008, 17:34 We're going to Venice. Internet deal for hotel and cheap EasyJet flights - £600 all in inc insurance. For 5 nights - i think that's pretty good and Venice has got to be romantic!! Who am I kidding, no time for romance, i'll be too busy sipping bilinis at Harry's bar (which will totally negate any saving we made on the hotel/flights)!! Cuey 05-03-2008, 10:36 We're going to Venice. Too right at £14 a go :o . The hotel next door has the most fabulous restaurant though ( to the left as you stand with your back to the lagoon). They did a sea food Linguini as a starter that i can honestly say is the best i have ever had anywhere (including some of the famous Michlin stared places in the UK). You'll love Venice, my fiance (wife in to be in May) is in love with the place and would happily buy an apartment if we had a spare million. Don't over organise just wander the back streets, its beautiful and if you stay off the square, not too expensive. We are off to Tanzania on safari (luxury not the backpacking i usually do) then a quick flight for a few days in Zanzibar. Should be fun, i've never done a long haul flight with her before. Claret 05-03-2008, 18:10 Cheers for the tips Cuey! Will look out for that restaurant. When we go on city breaks we do some of the sights, but don't go too crazy. We mainly go to places to experience the food and the atmosphere. I think the highlight, apart from Harry's, will be the Rialto market. We went to the Boqueria Market in Barcelona and loved that so I susect Italy won't let us down! Tanzania and Zanzibar sound pretty amazing - certainly a holiday you'll never forget! I'm sure that the post wedding glow will keep you both going through the long flights!! jellybellybean 12-04-2008, 16:02 Going back to the post princessL made I would love to have my wedding in mauritius, I liked the thought of getting married in The Maldives but I've been told that for some reason (something to do with the ownership/religion of the country) you can't actually get married in The Maldives. I don't know if this is true or not though! I'm sure you wont go far wrong though having your honeymoon anywhere in the Indian Ocean! Good Luck! hachandhach 12-04-2008, 22:07 we looking at going to tenerife but not sure where we like clubbing pubs and beaches any recomendations where in tenerife which is best al inclusive full board half board or self catering not sure which way to go waddy 12-04-2008, 22:11 we looking at going to tenerife but not sure where we like clubbing pubs and beaches any recomendations where in tenerife which is best al inclusive full board half board or self catering not sure which way to goI think thats where we are heading we are going on our honeymoon for christmas. My h2b has been and says los cristianos and americas are the liveliest.I think we are going either half board or all inc although there are loads of places to eat. hachandhach 12-04-2008, 22:35 hi waddy, thanks not sure weather to get a villa or hotel we get married in aug so most expensive timeof yr unfortunately jayne1967 14-04-2008, 11:53 Las americas/ los christianos are the main resorts fot Tenerife, but a lot of the pubs and clubs have been forced to close the last couple of years due to trouble, porto del carmen in Lanzarote we found a lot more going on for both daytime and nightime. hope this helps waddy 14-04-2008, 12:40 hi waddy, thanks not sure weather to get a villa or hotel we get married in aug so most expensive timeof yr unfortunately I think we are going for the hotel. It is really expensive in august and we are finding xmas time even more so. Sally0777 14-04-2008, 19:11 I quite like the idea of a cruise but my fiance thinks there just for older people emharrison 14-04-2008, 20:09 how about a private villa in greek islands, that is what we are doing - booked flights and a car and a villa for £1250 for two weeks in june. but if you are really struggling just go to www. travelrepublic .co .uk and type in your dates and see what is cheap and then just go there. another option we looked at was jersey or isle of scilly - lovely places with good weather princessL 16-04-2008, 11:41 the honeymoon is now booked!! 10 nights at Sandals resort in St Lucia! I thought £1500 each for 24 hr all inclusive, flying with Virgin and we can use all the other sandals resorts on the island is a pretty good deal!! Cant wait!!! sushi 19-04-2008, 06:57 Help We are getting married in May and have not yet organised our honeymoon - can anyone recomend somewhere that has fantastic scenery and is not too pricey. Thanks Sally We are going to Croatia in May, and got flights and an all inclusive hotel for a week for about 650 quid for both of us. You could do it alot cheaper if you want self catering. We were recommended to go to Croatia by several friends. Beautiful scenery, beaches, trees, and a national park that has over a thousand waterfalls in it. They have all said it is one of the nicest places they have ever been and they are all very well travelled. The food is supposed to be really good, and its really cheap also. http://www.exportup.com/croatia1.jpg http://www.cuti.com.my/community/phorum/pic/cutizen3878_Z_SALIC_PLITVICE_16.jpg http://www.unusualvillarentals.com/croatia/croatia2/images/n1.jpg A few pics I found on the net. Kaye2812 20-10-2008, 12:44 we getting married 5th june 2010 and iv always wanted to go to mexico on honeymoon but now found out its rainy season in june so not sure any one ever been there in june??? We went in June 2006 (that's where my hubby proposed) and it was amazing! The weather was really good, very sunny and hot. We got the occasional heavy downpour of rain late afternoon but it never lasted long. If you decide to go I suggest taking a high factor sun cream as the sun is very strong and a few people got sun burnt in our hotel. All in all I would highly recommend Mexico in June, the weather was much better than most places you can go at that time of year. |
