my daughters doe rabbit called peppa, has suddenly gone very
moody and temperamental. for some strange reason she will not
allow anyone to pick her up and squeeks and grunts at you when
you approach her. i tried to calm her down last night and then
tried to pick her up, to no avail she bit my hand. i am very
confused as to whats up with her, because she is in perfectly
good health. :help:

she may have reached adult hood and be broody as she wants babies!!! does she thump on the floor of her hutch? the grunts are territorial i am sure.

She'll start nesting soon. Don't try to pick her up or handle her in any way and get her spayed once she's stopped nesting :)

Is she any better today ? as we had an earthquake last night all my bunnies were well unsettled last night , so we stayed up to see why , she may have sensed something was wrong before we had the temour, although as Bobby said she probably needs spaying

The only thing wrong with her is that her hormones are all over the place.

Spaying is the best way to stop her feeling hormonal and make her more friendly and handlable again. It also protects against uterine cancer and aneurysms.

Are you planning on getting her speyed? Its very unpleasent for a female rabbit to feel hormonal and be unable to act on her natural instincts. Neutering will not only protect her against very prevelant uterine cancer but also make her a happier, more relaxed pet.

Please look into it, especially if you have a un-neutered male about.

yes sooz i am thanx. wasnt sure when she would reach sexual maturity cos she is a crossbreed rabbit between a dwarf lop and the other 1 all i know was a very large male. so sheis a fair size, and i was lead to believe that when they are a larger breed they may reachthat stage a couple of months later, hence i wasnt sure when. she is only just 6 monthsold so i was quite surprised by her sudden reactions. all help and information is gratefullyreceived though. debs
