View Full Version : Are everyones pets ok?
hope everyones pets are ok after this mornings earthquakes.
our bed shook and we thought it was the dogs.
got up and put the light on to find all 3 dogs laid on their bed looking at us sleepily. so they are fine.
my iguana is a really freaked out though.
Moonbird 27-02-2008, 09:19 My lot are all fine, it was quite funny really the first thing that I thought was "what the hell are those bloody cats doing upstairs" :hihi:
It soon became clear that it wasn't the cats!
The dogs all ran to the front window and door barking their heads off... I merely pooped myself
I went out into the back and little Kira and Oliver did these really weird laps around the garden, just running silently together round and round that was really freaky.... they are both babies I guess they must have felt confused or something
Me too Moonbird- Id woken up before 12 unable to sleep, decided to clean the cat litter trays in the attic (quietly, so as not to wake the other half downstairs). Just got back into bed before 1 when it hit- first thought - the dog was having a fit at the end of the bed, the bed was shaking so much- but she was fast asleep. Then thought the cats had trashed something major in the attic but when I got up to check, there was nothign -and they all seemed fine. Other half slept through it (but he's not been well, bless him) and the dobermutt never stirred until walkies time.
in5omniac 27-02-2008, 10:10 My pets are only small lizards so they didn't really notice it to be honest
bunnykins 27-02-2008, 10:12 coco my rabbit was fine,
I slept through it and so did my OH, so I hope my animals were all ok.:o They are fine this morning.
Sis has been to the horses this morning and they were fine, which suprised me I expected their beds to be all over the place as one of them is really nervous.
MuddyBuddy 27-02-2008, 10:56 I let Kizzy out in the garden just after it happened and she too did about 6 laps of the garden, leaping like a spring lamb :hihi: She's been unusually hyper on her walk this morning though, chased every crow and magpie in sight! I'm just off to borrow a greyhound and take it for a walk so i hope that isn't hyper as i've never walked a greyhound before. I may well return in love  lol
maybe its why my lurcher ruby was sick after her brekkie this morning, maybe she was feeling the after shock. anna.x.

Oh love is most definitely a greyhound!
TattyBear 27-02-2008, 12:53 Earthquake, what earthquake? :(
I think my cat Billy may have caused the earthquake, well he is an evil mastermind and he was looking particularly smug about the whole thing:hihi:
shihtzumad 27-02-2008, 13:04 mine was upset and was barking like mad. But they are fine this morning, my puppies never felt a think awww
TattyBear 27-02-2008, 13:26 I remember feeling the bed shake and i woke my boyfriend up and he just said it must have been the dog scratching against the bedsted. So i went back to sleep and just read this thread! Gutted I didnt know what it was at the time, I would have liked the excitement lol..........My dogs didnt even move by the way lol
last night i must have fell asleep watchin tv on the settee got woken at 12.56 am by my parrot he was flapping all over and his heart beating really fast ,any way got up this morning told other half about jasper, then hears theres been this earthquake, and i told other half he must have felt it and he called me a loony bin.
I was up when it started... stood next to a wall mounted, glass fronted cabinet (quickly moved).
Listened for the dogs but it didn't wake them up (thank heavens - Eddy's started howling recently - couldn't be doing with that) and the cats were just completely non plussed!!
Mum was freaked out though  It woke her up and I went in to find her clutching the sides of her bed!
My cats freaked out esp my eldest who is abit of a scaredy cat he shot under the bed i only managed to tempt him out this morning round 8.30am with tuna, but all 3 are fine now :)
window cleaner said his parrot went crzy too. Our cockatiel never made a peep, nor did the cats - n the dobermutt slept right through it, which suprised me cos she always wakes up when the milkman delivers in the middle of the night or if someone breathes further up the street...
papillon 27-02-2008, 18:15 My Dorrie has been missing for a week, if she's still alive I hope she was okay :(
Jabberwocky 27-02-2008, 18:22 My budgie actually fell off his perch and only just climbed back on it an hour ago, hes spent the day hanging from the bars of his cage and glaring at me madly.
The cat didnt notice a thing, hes far too lazy to be worried about anything once hes stuffed his guts with grub.
It was very odd.
Our male Burman was VERY peeved (along with my OH) and freaked out somewhat.
Our British Short Hair female (liek her owner, me!) slept through it all and was only awoken by the other members of the household.
Within 5 minutes they were both settled down in their beds again!
Innocence 27-02-2008, 21:20 My hamster Beansy was terrified, running around his cage and acting terrified! he calmed down after a while though thank god!!
hope everyones ok!
BlackVelvet 28-02-2008, 00:27 Ours never stirred, dogs or parrot.
I think most animals deal far better with natural phenominoms than us fickle, highly-strung humans do ;)
i went down to check on kyah and tilly and found them fast asleep with kyah snoring Very loudly (like an old man with cold). dont think tilly woke up because shes so used to the vibrations from her snooring sister
